Converting some MW meshes to O - architecture

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:49 am

Probably been asked before but, I took a look through the forum and couldnt find mention of anyone having converted these yet. Here is a link to a zip file with pictures:

I can provide the meshes and textures if needed, I guess it may be a tough sell though considering the amount of meshes. I was going to make a city with it on the Summerset Isle landmass that onra made, or at least play with some ideas. I've done some pretty detailed morrowind mods before and have been practicing but the default tilesets are a snooze at this point. Morrowind had so much more modder architecture to work with. Anyway, if anyone wants to give a stab at this or knows if there is already a place to find these converted to Oblivion please let me know.

To get your mind going, here's a screenshot of an old idea for an Altmer town/city had started with Morrowind years ago that features this very tileset:

Obviously it's going to look different in Oblivion, but you get the idea. My plan is to try to make some kind of city, unique to itself I hope. Anyway thanks for the help!

You might want to ask a moderator to add the word "mod" after "MW" in the title. My first reaction when I saw this thread was, "That's illegal, gonna get locked..."

Third-party meshes are fine, of course, as long as you have the original author's permission. But there's been a fair amount of drama over projects involving original Morrowind content. :P

Can anyone point me in the direction of a person that could help me getting the Morrowind mod meshes pictured converted to Oblivion? Anyone know a modeler around here that is prone to doing requests?

Getting a request done is like taking a walk and finding a $10 bill laying in the street....it's rare, possible...but probably won't happen. All you can do is be patient, though I know how frustrating it is since I have posted about 3 topics within the past few days and they all had 0 response.

Its actually not hard to do, you could probably do it yourself. Grab Blender, import MW meshes, select OB settings when exporting. Then change texture paths and names using Nifskope. The only thing that would require any modeling knowledge is collision, and you could do without it while your mod is just a concept.

Very true. I'ts been quite a while since I've been here, I'm from back in the morrowind modding days of faded glory but I never cracked the Oblivion mod thing open, finally I got around to it and want these meshes because they are so good and I cant believe it's been something like five years since I used them in MW and still no one has done anything with them for Oblivion.

Ok, well I've got the first of 235 tile pieces converted LOL, still trying to figure out the normal mapping thing but I've got one of the meshes in Oblivion now, here's a shot

Had to retexture it due to the mod's original textures being outdated, and I'll still have to mess with the lighting properties on the mesh, but it's a start. Here's another screenshot from morrowind, I need to drum up some interest in this tileset,:

Forging ahead....
