Convince me to replay Fallout 3

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 4:46 pm

Basically, I once had a complete Fallout 3 file. In that, I mean I had around 2K caps, all the weapons, clothing, etc. I lived in Megaton, did all the quests found all the locations, found all the bobbleheads.

Well, that was before the RROD came and killed my 360.

Now I have a new one and have some small yearning to replay Fallout 3 again (pretending "New Vegas" is just a spin-off of the Fallout series as its not a direct sequel).

But after I've exhausted the game, I might need convincing to replay it again.

So...start convincing me!

Well technically NV is more of a sequel because it continues (sort of not really) teh story line of the first 2 games because it shows the continuation of teh NCR and west cost

Play it or I'll feed Gabriel77Dan too much fish food. We all know what happens then, and I'm not afraid to do it.

I think I like to play FO3 more than NV because (and I'm probably one of the minority people here), I like the feeling that I'm the only one that can fix things, I like to feel like the fate of the world depends on my character.

NV doesn't give me that same vibe...

Behemoths.

Cazadors, geckos and mantis do not make up for the loss. Nothing in the Mohave is as thrilling to behold or fight.

The DC ruins. This alone is enough reason to keep coming back to Fallout 3.

If not, how about the DC metro, Chinese Assault Rifle, Charon, Clover, Dogmeat, the battle at GNR, complete freedom out of Vault 101, Arefu, random encounters, Tenpenny Tower, Tranquility Lane, shooting a Mirelurk in the face, Point Lookout, reaching the top of the Washington Monument, Moira, The Pitt, Sticky, Those!, Dupont Circle, Paradise Falls, L'Enfant Plaza, Georgetown family townhouse, Rivet City...

Convinced you yet?

Because it's better than Oblivion, and Oblivion was a good, lasting game. But other games have caught up to it, and FO3 surpasses it. If you've only played it through once then you have an opportunity do something different than in your previous game. If your pc is up to it then you could play with mods. Change gameplay, eyecandy, music, player house, companions, weapons, interface, or make your own mod and upload it. Another reason to replay it is that it is Fallout and your only alternative is S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which is more battle and survival and less actor playing. I enjoyed it, but upon replay opportunity I passed.

I think that there was another apocalypse game similar to both, which came out a year or two ago. The name escaped me.

Edit:
It was Metro 2033 and it didn't do as well as it could have because reviews say that combat and stealth was caca. But immersion and atmosphere was very good.

I love these `convince me` threads. I always think `Why should I convince you? if you can`t get the cajones to play that`s your problem. it`s not my job to convince you.`

Quite so.

When playing the game, I do have plenty of fantastic battles where I have to replay them to get it just right, and I really look forward to those kinds of replays.

That says it all.

ditto but after 5 play throughs and 2400 hrs I can never play it again. Its the greatest game of all time. IMO

No one said it was. Maybe you're just trying to convince yourself? Let it go already, sheesh.
