I hope we can smoke bacon.
Well, in several different articles found on the internet, with respect to "Viking Lifestyle," it was reported that Vikings would butcher selected animals in the fall, because in many cases, it was too difficult to feed them through the winters. Meat and fish was usually smoked, salted or dried to preserve it.
The Vikings were more agrarian that some might have realized, with most of them working family, or perhaps even communal farms, and engaging in animal husbandry.
@OnNzOr - Pork was a meat source, and if smoked, I suppose one could have had bacon, lol. Not sure about in-game, however,
In standard houses ( a longhouse) there was usually a hearth, which provided light and some heat. Meat was usually cooked in a pot, with other ingredients, or on a spit, over an open fire.

Apparently ovens for bread-baking were not widespread, and some investigators believe that leavened, oven- baked bread was developed as an effect of the increasing cultivation of rye in southern Scandinavia."
