Cool Armor?

Post » Fri Aug 13, 2010 9:03 am

I'm sure all of you have been wondering the same thing. Where the hell is this bad-ass looking armor that you can get in FNV? What does it look like? Well, just take a good look at the front cover of the game box you have. The wierd NCR-like dude with a glowing, red-eyed helmet with a long coat. I've been told that i can get this if i joined the NCR and did all of their tasks. Please clerify this so i know if i'm close to getting this armor.

NCR will start bringing in the Rangers who rock that armor once you advance the storyline quite a bit (though some people report the NCR rocking it once they hit level 25+). I still think leather armor looks boss, as does the reinforced leather. It's all I use. :P

Ok, so your saying a little later in the storyline, probably some side quest/mission, there will be an NCR little quest/mission where they bring in these "Rangers" who i can just massacre and loot their armor from?

It's not an actual mission, they just start showing up once the tension in the region is a little bit higher. After that, you're free to sneak attack them and loot the armor. Be forewarned, the helmet looks a little weak in the actual game, though the outfit itself is pretty cool.

alright, thanks for the advice. But one more question. If it's not an actual quest or mission, then when will i know if these Rangers will start appearing? And better yet, where should i start looking?

NCR troops will talk about Rangers being sent to back them up. Just look around the NCR camps, they'll stand out. ;)

If you clear out Vault 34, you can get Vault Security armor that is fully repaired (by combining). OK the armor is not badass looking and hardly has any value, BUT it is light armor (faster run speed) and at just 55%-60% maintenance it is fully repaired with these stats: DT 16, WG 15, VAL 32.

I think the only armor so far that comes close is combat armor, but that has ridiculous value (and therefore is ridiculously expensive to repair at merchant) AND it is medium armor so you get a run penalty.

However I haven't been through BoS yet ... and I have yet to see these "Rangers". :)

I've seen them at the Dam, Forlorn Hope and a few of the random Ranger Bases.

I realize there's better armor out there, but the main reason i want it is because it IS bad-ass looking. The reason i don't really need power armor thats only like 7 - 11 DT better is because my endurance is completely maxed out. I could take on a whole base of legionaries with my worst armor and i'd make it through without even loosing half my health.

To be honest, i've looked up all the pieces of other armor you can get compared to the ranger armor, and technically speaking, the ranger armor is the 5th best armor in the game. So please, don't go around calling that armor a piece of crap. <_<

You can do the reverse pickpocket glitch (some video will show you), or if you have the Mister Sandman perk, you can follow a ranger to it's bed, kill him silently without raising hostility, and grab the loot from there.

Don't you have to give them better armor for that to work? If so, does it have to be power armor (and do they have training)?

Be around when someone else kills them. What use is that armor if they're not fighting deathclaws?

Do these NCR veteran ranger armors have thermal vision or some nightvision of some sort? the ranger helmet does nothing

And the easiest way to get it without killing a ranger is to go at novac talk to the ranger in the ranch (the one with problems at his leg) He will ask you to go see for his NCR Friends; when you reach loc there's a house with a pile of dead bodies, should be in one.

Vict0r - does that result in the cover Ranger armor, whatever it's named? I guessed it was just their random armor half of them have.

The name of the long coat armor (Seen in the teaser) is "NCR Ranger Combat Armor" and helmet "Ranger Helmet"; When i equiped it had no Night vision or thermal vision, does any of them have?
