Cool Dragons... That's a change!

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 12:50 pm

Looks very good, wonder about size, it's very long so for it to look big then attacking you it has to be very long as in 10 meters or more.

I wonder if it's only me who is thinking arrow with paralyze poison then seeing the picture.
Dragon fall down from ruin and takes fall damage, in addition to poison effect and dies.

People keep mentioning that they don't want all the holes in the wings to be the same for every dragon etc, and im just wondering, how often are you gonna fight dragons? are they as common as Wolfs or what?

Yeah, but making those stuff same would make you feel as if you are fighting a single dragon all the time.
Imagine a game with 12 stages, for example, and has a same boss on very stage.
Weak.
Still, I think that they will make differences between dragons and that it will be fine.

Only thing I may not like in Skyrim, is the fact that the pic of the Dragon I have, it's wings are all torn up. It has a few holes, and the edges look kind of weak. I mean, really old dragons, which most of them are, is understandable why they have torn wings, and scars. Because they've been in hundreds of fights! But when every single Dragon has holes in its wings... It just gets old.

How the hell could you possibly know that? We've seen ONE dragon. Not EVERY SINGLE ONE.

exactly, my theory is that all the screenshots we've seen are from a single demo. This single demo also contains only 1 dragon. Thus, we have 3 different screen shots of only 1 dragon, not 3 look-a-likes
how could they spend 2 years on the AI of a dragon, and then not tell the artists to make more than 1 model?
that's just stupid

Think it's confirmed it will be different types of dragons with different properties.
And since the holes are probably transparency maps they would be easy to change making dragons more unique.

Normally I hate dragons. Hate hate hate them. They're the most awful, hackneyed garbage in almost every fantasy series they appear in. But somehow, I find myself looking at Skyrim's dragons, and reading about them, and against my will, I find myself thinking they sound so [censored] awesome.

It is almost like these games we play are based on some weird hobby called Dungeons and Dragons. :)

Though while I am generally not a penny arcade fan it reminded me of this. http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/1/13/

Maybe I played too much Monster Hunter, but given the quality of that picture, I would rage if it's not in-game.

I'm willing to bet that dragon, and/or the scene is from the intro video, when you start a new game. Makes sense to me.

Yup, they sure look F***ING AWESOME!!! But I do hope that they have at least 5 different models for the dragons so they are different.

Actually, those holes look pretty good in my opinion.
When I read what you said, I though its wings will look like as if someone shoot it with a mini-gun.
They look perfectly fine in my opinion.

Ah, sorry for misleading, wasn't my intention. I started thinking about it more, and I guess the first thing to get damaged on a Dragon would be it's wings, people trying to ground it. I am happy with the wings, their not overly mutilated, but just once I want to see a dragon without damage :)

I don't know that, but if you play Oblivion, look around. Every monster of it's class looks the same as the other. Except goblins. It just seems a like a Bethesda habit. I would be happy with the same model, and just 3-4 different textures for them. But multiple dragon models would be great. Old, young, battle-worn, smaller and bigger dragons. just a nice variation of them :)

Skyrim isn't Dragon Simulator 2011, but I believe it will be the first RPG ever where you actually feel like you are fighting a dragon. No scripted stuff, dice roll combat, or QTEs(hopefully).

Bethesda has been known for introducing groundbreaking concepts into their games. I hope you're right on this one.

Lol, paralyse a dragon flying over a pit of lava. That would be funny.

dragons will probably be either resistant or immune to a whole lot of spells/effects, paralyze probably being high on that list

paralyze would be awesome if it made flying enemies crash to the ground!

Mentioned it a little while ago but ...
These drags do look a lot like the Wyverns from Monster Hunter, basically awesome.

My pure mage usually used poison to kill liches. As he had weakness to magic and they had reflect magic destruction spells was not a good idea. However weakness to poison was harmless if reflected.

There should be different levels of paralysis poisons. As in, you get a paralyze tiny/small/medium/large/huge creature on strike, and the latter would be incredibly hard to find :) then you can paralyze dragons in mid air, even if its just for a few seconds.

It saddens me to see all this dragon discussion going on while my thread falls to page 8 and below...
