I'd like to see a lot more affects other than 'fire ball that hits and explodes for x size and damage lasts for x seconds' as it was in Morrowind.
For instance, field affects. After spell is cast the ground radiates a certain color and does damage or healing or gives certain buffs while you or an NPC stands in it.
Instant 'environmental' spells. Such as lightning strikes, wind, manipulation of plant life, etc.
More spread out damage over time spells (ie, less than 1 damage per 1 second, like 1 damage every 5 seconds or such).
More original spell affects, such as a ball that when fired bounces off the ground and surfaces, creating a small explosion of damage each collision for so man collisions.
Push or Pull affects, affected by weight and magical resistance.
Gravity affects. Such as an orb when fired shoots out and slows to a stop. The nearer NPCs are to it, the slower they move. It may affect the flight of arrows, etc. Especially effective if the opponent is wearing a lot of heavy armor.
Something similar but magical, affecting nonphysical creatures and absorbing spells into it.
Levitation, but requiring channeling and constant magicka usage (so it would eat up one hand of casting, and could not be used indefinitely).
Magical barriers and shields.
More debilitating affects rather than damage for mage/warrior mage/thief crossover classes. Such as fatigue damage, draining/absorbing strength/speed/agility/etc, noise, etc.
