They managed to turn a naturally mouse controller game such as Halo Wars and put that onto a controller platfrom, Its easily done, and you have keyboards which can be plugged into the xbox and the controller mounted chatpad. Just a patch here and there to allow compatibility, Do it! Dooo it!
Except Halo Wars was built from the ground up to use a controller interface.
The problems with the idea of Fallout 1+2 tend to circle around how viable it would be.
The effort of reworking controllers so you can play if you don't have a keyboard. There were a keys that did a particular thing, such as hotkeyying various commands.
The graphics: Doesn't matter how good the games were, a lot of people who've never played them are just as likely to take one look at a screenshot and say 'looks crap' referring entirely to the graphics. In fact, how many times have we had a review posted on these forums and the poster always critisizes the graphics? Conveniently forgetting how old the games actually are in relation to modern games.
Is it financially viable? Considering all the work and time that will be needed to rework the controls, streamline the coding and eliminate some of the game breaking bugs, is it going to be worth it? How many people are actually going to buy it in contrast to the number of xbox consoles actually sold?
Finally, who's going to do said work?
Black Isle? Unfortunately, Black Isle is no more and it's staff are now spread around a fair bit.
Interplay? Again unlikely, for the simple reason they can't afford to gamble on a project like this. They are in dire straits financially and I doubt the head honchos would be interested in setting up a project time, even if they could.
Bethesda? They've already said that they aren't interested in picking up and finishing someone elses project in the form of Van Buren, so I really can't see that they'll be interested in working on a game that was completed and released in the days of sprites.
It just isn't going to happen, no ones going to see it as financially viable. No matter how many people on these forums claim they'd buy them.
