Post » Sun May 01, 2011 1:35 pm

Ok for 1 I like the morrowind game and all the mods. I do have a problem. how can I copy my morrowind disc? dont get me wrong ...I dont want to pirate it. its just that ive played the shine off my old disc... and I know they would love to take my money and buy a new cd. now I cant play morrowwind cause my dics reports an error. I have tried to unload it and reload it this was a bigger mistake cause now it wont load at all(keeps stopping at the same place at 95%)
please help me on this and thank you.

Have you tried getting the disc resurfaced? Because copying the disc, no matter your intentions, is illegal. That's why it says on the back of the box "Do not make illegal copies of this disc." Disc resurfacing works really well as long as your scratches aren't too deep.

One copy of the disc for your own personal use is OK as long as that is all it is for.

Referring to Rohugh's post that it's ok for personal use: I tried to make a virtual image b/c my netbook plays Morrowind but I have no CD / DVD drive. What programed did you use? Oh wait you said 'imageburn' is that for copying or virtual image?

I was thinking about doing this too seeing as how 3 of my games that require the disc have been scratched minorly due to my drive being at a weird angle so the disc gets caught on a ledge while I close it sometimes... also the center of the discs are cracked from taking them out of the case so much. Having a backup would be nice.

It may depend on which country you live in, but making one backup copy of something you own legitimately is legal as far as I know. Another thing some gaming houses do is replace your disk for you. All you have to do is send a copy of your proof of purchase along with the origional disk and pay the shipping costs. I'm not sure if Bethesda does that though.
