Copying Retail over Steam version of the game

Hey there guys,

I've modded my Oblivion setup a year ago, then went for military service, and now I'm back. There has been lots of new mods, and I don't have time to update my existing setup. The problem is, I've changed my HDD, and and bought Oblivion via Steam (Yes, I'm ashamed to admit that my previous setup was on a pirated copy of Oblivion). If I copy my entire Oblivion directory from my old HDD (mind you, it's retail, not Steam) and paste it over my Steam installation of Oblivion, will my mods work like they did on my old HDD? Or do I have to install them all over again on my Steam installation?

I think that you can just copy the Data folder in.

Don't do the entire Oblivion directory, just Data.

Yea, don't copy things like the exe or Steam will curl up and die. Just copy the meshes/textures etc folders, and the ESP/ESM files (excluding Oblivion.esm).

But my Oblivion.exe was 4gb patch'ed and .exe optimized. Does that mean I shouldn't copy the .exe but optimize & patch it again in my Steam installation?
