Corpse removal needs to return

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 12:48 pm

FO3, FONV, and Skyrim had permanent corpses in the form of ash piles and goo piles. Enemies I've killed over 100 hours ago are now permanent annoying stains on the road for the rest of the game. Please bring back the in game option to clear away unsightly reminders of fallen foes.

Agreed, but because I am sure they add to game instability.

Yes, it may be unrealistic, but given the choice between that and lagging/glitches, I'll take the unrealistic.

Permanent ash piles was straight up a bug in those games. And it would bloat your save. Shame too, since it's so much fun to vaporize your enemies.

Well it makes sense that dead bodies goes away after some days, lots of hungry creatures out there.

Hell it is way more realistic to have those things disapear in a few days.

Especially if the complete corpses and body parts, there is no reason for the ash piles and goo piles not too.

A mere wind can dispatch the ash pile in a few hours/minutes.

And you savegames/game stability will be much thanksfull.

I have an idea why not make a tradeoff so that all players with the cannibal perk are able to remove bodies after eating them in this way the cannibal perk will become more popular and you will be able to dispose of annoying dead corpses at a price?

I have no issue with this, with some exception for important characters who have notes on them that you need to read for a quest.

You should have to dig their graves.

I'm joking. But I did once spend half an hour in NV carting the powder ganger corpses up the hill and dumping them in the courier's grave.

I definitely wouldn't want instant fading, or a clean-up button; but they could fade after a week or so... Preferably with a variable timer, that is faster the more NPCs pass around.

Good old Dungeonkeeper did cause the populace' moods to darken if they had to step around dead bodies. It could have been cool to have the same in FO3/4.

The instant fading in Mothership zeta and skyrim civil war was because of serious memory limitations on previous generation consoles. bodies tend to disappear on cell refresh or some other refresh timer, like how harvest plants regrow. ash piles was not removed because of bug as they was not part of the body cleanup.

It would actualy be verry plausible for bodies to disapear after mere days in the wasteland, after all there would be a host of scavengers like coyotes and such that might look at that corps as a nice meal. So maybe have them reduced to some gory bits after a period of time, and later just be gone totaly. As for dust piles, they would just be blown away by the wind, so would be nice if such a mechanic was implemented to remove corpses over periods of time.

Makes me wonder, if consoles get mods, then will they get console commands? Because those pretty much fix all of those types of problems.

I remember the bug, but did not know the technical reason for it.

Scavengers should take care of normal and exploded corpses.

The first good wind should clean up an ash pile.

As for a puddle of goo, well, we are going to have to wait for some moderate rain for that.

Would rather they decomposed but the sun bleached skeletons remained there for all eternity, even the new consoles could cope with it now.

Ash piles blowing away would be a nice touch and indeed likewise for goo eventually being diluted away as well.

More real the better.

They should have flies eat away the corpse. Marts mutant mod had flies buzz around corpses

There was a game... I'm trying to remember it. In the game, dead bodies were swarmed by maggots, and eventually faded away... Was it Citizen Kabuto?

If they're letting us build a settlement, I'd love a feature that allowed you to bury any settlers that are unlucky enough to not make it through a bandit raid. Wouldn't feel right just leaving a friends corps out to dry like that.

I think there are mods that have done something similar in NV and Skyrim, but I've yet to ever actually check them out for myself.

There are suppose to be radiation storms along with normal weather effects. Personally, I am hoping for radioactive tornadoes.

Or ~alternatively, place them on pikes and crosses , outside the settlement. (Depends on the kind of settlement; and should affect the morale of attackers.)

Maybe there should at least be some universe-friendly way to get rid of them. Like having Mirelarks, Cannibals, Supermutants, Raiders or medics appear at some point to scavange them or drag them away after the first 3 days. Or if its a town, have the security patrol pick them up and toss them somewhere where they disappear. (At that the Rivet City bridge; I used to just throw them over)

I like the idea, but I think it would get stale by the third time you see it.
