I'm making a UI overhaul mod that completely strips down the skueomorphic design and shoots for something clean and simple like skyrim. One of the things I tried to do was to change the .FNT files out with other ones.

Unfortunately I was unsuccessful and corrupted my font folder -- the game will not start now. I did not back it up.

Is there any way some could provide me with the backup fonts or even a font replacer that could get my game running again?

Also.. how would I go about changing the text colour from golden yellow to a 20% grey?

To change the game's fonts you need to use a converter since the game uses a bitmap font format. To change the font colour you need to edit Morrowind.ini

Like SWG said, to change the colour, you need an .ini tweak. Coming from working on TCs, the custom fonts work great

As for the Fonts Folder, just reinstall the game. Then, make a copy of the Morrowind Directory and put it somewhere. You can can have multiple copies on one machine and run each one independently (mods and saves too). Then you have a copy you can hose with impunity, one you can test mods and mod mixes on, and one you can play.

Changing the color sounds easy enough! Do you know of any free conversion software by any chance?

EDIT: Did what CCNA mentioned but backwards; copied my corrupted Morrowind folder to another hard drive, uninstalled and installed a clean one. Grabbed the clean fonts from the new one and put them in the corrupted one and i'm back to normal! Thanks!

So far i've stripped everything down. I plan to add stuff back, but I'm really shooting for something more modern. And while changing the font to white definitely helped, I'm still hoping that the right typeface can really push this feeling forward.

Before Planet Elder Scrolls died, there was a mod that let you make new Morrowind fonts. If you could find it somewhere it might help with changing the typeface.

Mine looks much different. It's even cleaner and more simple then this. Theres no need for those bars at the top. They do nothing for function or design. The whole "yellow interface" just gets in the way of Morrowind's colour palette too. Neutralizing like I have done really helps.

Yes I downloaded it! However, I feel like keeping the font the same but changing it to white was the perfect balance between making it feel like Morrowind still.
