Corrupted save file or game issue?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 3:49 am

Hello everyone, I need your help or just an answer.

So here's the problem... I rewrite save file everytime instead of making a new one, so I have only 1 save file at the moment.
I was trying to do the main quest called "Hunter/Hunted", after fast travelling my game crashed, I ignored that and restarted the game, it didn't crash there, so I thought that was a good idea to rewrite the save file again. ( I was stuck on the location where you must kill the hunter )

After the game crashed again, i couldn't load the save file, game works fine, but can't load this save. Game is crashing after loading the save file.
I lost like 48 hours progress by now and I don't want to replay everything because it is just crazy.
If somebody knows how to change character location by rewriting the .fos save file please help. I think it might be fixable , because game was crashing sometimes I was travelling to some locations.( I mean that "location changing in the .fos file" might gonna fix this )

Is the save file dead? Or is it just the game issue? :nope:

Thank you for every respond you make. :sadvaultboy:

I asked for trying to load save file for 10 people, they tried to load it and their game crashed too, so don't even try to load it in game, that will not work :/
Here's the save file(WARNING! Auto-downloading!): https://vk.com/doc102642756_437037083

I'm rather speechless upon reading your post.

I take it you have very little gaming experience with games.

One always has multiple back up saves in case of corruption to to game bugs, or whatever.

That is particularly the case with games such as this and prior titles in the series using same base engine.

Corruption can and WILL happen.

I'm sorry, but it is all on your bad habit. That is the lesson you have to learn here.

Consider the time you lost as a 'Dumb Tax' and in the future, use multiple hard saves at key points so in case of a disaster, you can revert.

As a veteran of prior games using this engine I can tell you there is very little chance of using any console trickery to recover that save.

IT is now a save one would consider toxic and unstable, even if you managed to find some esoteric fix.

You would end up with just more 'wasted time'.

Big thread on this page about it, this is one of the quests that can be affected. Keep the save and wait for a patch, otherwise multiple saves in these types of games is a rather unfortunate must(2-3h gametime cycle for example).

Hunter/Hunted Workaround (PC)

Skipping to area (the videos skip you to the target) (workaround #1)

1.) Open console

2.) lnstead of searching for signal, use coc GreenetechGenetics01

3.) clear building, kill target

4.) when you see the door to leave for Cambridge, use coc sanctuaryExt to leave. Going through the door will cause you to crash again.

Even so, i don't understand your idea making only one save file.

What are you afraid for, for not making multiple game saves. ???

If your save is corrupt (so if...) no patch will help you, to fix your one and only save file.

M

Sorry, but I quit reading right there...

My only comment is, "WHY?". What possible reason could you have for playing ANY game like this (much less a BETHESDA game)? I get you may be new to gaming, but your are painting yourself into a corner and blowing up every bridge you cross....Simply put, you are begging for any heartaches you get from your "insane" save game policy.
