Corruption and Conciense Quest

Post » Sat May 22, 2010 9:31 am

Got this side quest and I got as far as when Aldos is killed. Talked to Lhevana got an entry in my quest and then went to talk to Garrius. He just says Aldos needs to be avenged and my entry got modified to say he doesnt like the bloodshed.

He didnt offer for me to look for a note and when I try to confront Ulrich he ignores me and there is no note on or in his desk just a couple of books.

Cant really progress as he wont follow me to have him killed at least.

Any suggestions?

There are http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Corruption_and_Conscience#Deal_with_Ulrich you can take from that point to end the quest.

If you're determined to do it Garrius' way, make sure you're looking for the note in the right place. If all else fails and you're on the PC, you can always just use the console to add the note into your inventory, or to force the journal update that you did it Garrius' way.

I am pretty sure I went through his desk. How do you add exactly? I think you type ~ add "MS10UlrichLetter" or something?

It can be easily missed. It sits on top of a book on the dresser.

If it's not at that location you can add it with the console;

What was your last journal entry? If Ulrich has been sent to jail and you get a reward loop or lingering dialogue you can use the console to end it;

Stopquest MS10

This quest has a habit of being buggy as hell.

Just a broad, and possibly sort of unwelcome, commentary on this thread and similar threads...

In all my years playing the game, I've never once used the console to advance a quest. The few times that one has gone buggy, I've just reloaded an earlier save and done it again (after making sure that I was fully patched).

The vast majority of the time that I see someone here who's stuck in a quest and thinks it's a bug - it's not. It's something that was missed, most often a dialogue option that was off-screen. Early on, I got tricked by that a couple of times - you have to be sure to scroll down through all the dialogue options with all the important NPCs in case there's something off-screen that's important.

And at least much of the time that I see someone here who's stuck in a quest and uses the console to advance it, it just makes it worse, since, as the OP's did, the game then gets stuck in a loop trying to do some thing that was supposed to be done before that quest stage.

I know this probably doesn't help the OP that much at this point, and probably won't be read by anyone who's going to end up doing the same thing, but I just had to get it out.... :D
