Dudes (and dudettes): I was walking to work today, and passed a lovely display of flowers and plants that looked oddly similar to some of the ones in Cyrodiil. I kid you not, for the briefest of seconds I had the urge to get closer to them and hold out my hand as if to harvest something. Like, seriously. Ridiculous.

Just be sure to enter sneak mode and check for imperials around, then u r good to go :icecream:

Are you familiar with that sound hybrid cars make? YOu know, they go eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee? So one passed me the other day as I was outside walking. It was making that sound, but a bit louder than I've ever noticed. But for just a split second I got the urge to look around for an Oblivion Gate! Alas, I was still just outside of Safeway.

I'm still playing 4 years later.Over 1400 hours( :whistling: ). Don't feel alone. Even worse, I play the vanilla 360 edition. If I had mods my wife would have me in therapy :shocking: ! LOL.

Oh noes! Not the dreaded Safeway Oblivion Gate! :ooo:

Haven't you ever seen a houseplant that looks like Nirnroot? I live in the desert and in the spring the canyon behind my house is full of beautiful 'flax' plants in bloom. Lol.

Yea a few weeks ago there was this huge rainstorm. It was soggy out for an entire day. The next morning I came outside to find these GIANT mushrooms in the front lawn...looked just like Cairn Boletes. I was tempted hurt myself and eat one just to see if it restored my health!

I used to be an anti-bullying prefect last year. I was once with my friends in school (who all play, or atleast know Oblivion), and we saw someone getting bullied.

My friend yelled "Assault! Assault!" and I stepped forward stopping the guy, in my best Wes Johnson voice yelled "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM!" and all my friends burst out laughing.

They bully was like; what the hell?. The bully didn't mess with us though as we're all pretty tough. :P

It was so epic. :celebration:

THAT is the best thing I've heard in awhile!

I'll bet you sleep rather soundly for an anti-bullying prefect.

Good on you! WTG!

Take care~!

When I was in High School I used to spend all day thinking about my video games and couldn't wait to get home and play them, and not just Oblivion either. I think I'm a bit of a game addict too. :P

I buy games to get addicted and TES IV is just a game that you play at a certain time of year and not constantly. However the GOTY edition is almost impossible to put away because the add-ons are so diverse. I hope that bethesda release the mini dlcs onto ps3

Just played 22hours worth of oblivion in one sitting. 15 hours is usually my average play time on a saturday . If you think you are addicted just compare the stats but it isn't an addiction it's a necessity. PS3, maths and science are the important things in my life they give me adrenaline they keep my healthy they keep me alive. "Jokes are silly."

Just call me Mr. Bent. Head cashier of ankh-morporks bank. Except my dark secret is my gaming side.

I was only introduced to Oblivion during the summer, and I'm hooked.

I had a used, dinged up copy, a kid gave me, and I played it whenever I could on my roomates x-box 360.

Loved it so much that I went out and got a better copy, and have now moved out of that place, and purchased my own 360 just so I can play it more, and even got a copy of the GOTY edition.

Sadly though, I am currently lacking a tv, and am in withdrawel and haven't even been able to try my KotN and Shivering Isles yet.

So I've taken tons of game character building notes, and I have some planned characters for the next time I do get to play.

Been there, done that.

Nowadays, the game is like a comfortable old pair of shoes. I can slip into Nirn, and Angel will carry me away to new adventures or reflective moments of solitude in deep forest, under a starlit sky or frolicking in a waterfall's spray. After all this time with her, I still never know what she will get up to next. We may pick a pocket, kill a Daedra, or begin a scientific study of a spell effect. It's all good.

It's true. It was mostly Lucien's idea. There wasn't enough caps in it for Burke. The proof is http://www.ikilledsanta.net/.

Thanks for the kind words! I am honestly delighted that you chased away bullies with the Imperial Guard mantra, but I don't recommend that to everyone. In my case, I'm certain that my precious health would be forfeit! :bolt:

Take care!

I have to join this sad group of people, lol =D

I spent hours on modding the graphics after getting the game recently, and ended up with the awesome landscape and nature packs. I've since played 10 in-game days only solving one quest (Thoronir) and spent the rest of the time just wandering around looking at the rolling hills, flowers, butterflies, sparkling water, wheat fields and all that stuff as it's completely gorgeous.

Now, this weekend has been marvelous, weather-wise, where I live and my girlfriend and I went for a walk by the lake late yesterday afternoon. We were just sitting watching the lake and the sun set, and I remarked: "Almost as good as a sunset at Lake Rumare," to which my girlfriend responded: "Yeah." This was followed by about 10 seconds of silence, after which my girlfriend goes: "What?"

I then had to explain and apologize. Consequently we're going out of town to visit her parents this weekend. *sigh*

I bought this game a week ago (never played any Elder Scrolls before) and am seriously enjoying it. So much so that I can't wait to get home today and play for an hour (or less) until the hubby gets home. Luckily, I think I've gotten him interested and he may start playing, too, so I won't feel as bad abandoning him for a video game haha! Anyone else suffer from this wait-all-day-at-work-thinking-about-playing-oblivion syndrome?

I am totally addicted to Oblivion. When I am at work I scan the sites and forums. At home, I usually spend 1-2 hours playing on a work night or 4-5 on a weekend. When I am not playing, I am modding, and moreso when people write to tell me they like my mods. I also spend oodles of time messing with utillity programs like TES4Edit and Wrye Bash.I have bought other games since I got Oblivion 2+ years ago, like the Witcher and Dragon Age. I played Witcher for a couple days, and Dragon Age a couple hours before going back to Oblivion. I gotta pull myself away sometimes to do chores. Only my kids are more fun than Oblivion. Hopefully that won't change.

I think that is why Bethesda called this game Oblivion. It isn't referring to the realm of the Daedra, but how it makes a person oblivious to all the other things in their lives...

 That is sooo true. I compare sunsets and other scenery to Oblivion all the time and so do my kids! I think that says something about the hard work that went into this game. When scenic vistas cannot compare to bits on a monitor, the graphics have to be called excellent.

Ha ha. What was wrong with Dragon Age? I'm thinking of buying it but curious as to why you didn't like it?

Yes I'm addicted, but I swap games often every year or two as I don't buy many.
Am kind of a nervous guy when it comes to trying single player non rpg games.. a trait I don't follow with other medium apart from tech in general, this is the first forum I joined.
Oblivion is one of those games that you apreciate more the longer you play, so either you drop it quickly or you're hooked imo.

Off topic, Renee Gade, DA:O's a great game imo, but certain aspects are lacking, romance is featured but imo the best relationships are with npc companions, rather than *companions*.
Its pretty / very linear, but quite a few quests have plenty of different resolutions, and for me it was fun creating "alignment" paths like AD&D used to.
So it has pros and cons, if you prefer open ended games you may not like it, but as a P&P rpg fan as I rember you saying I'm sure all crpg's appeal.
Really though it depends on you, I say get it and see for yourself, as I would hate to be put off something I thought of trying just from others opinions.

I actually kind of envy you. I wish I could go back to when everything in Oblivion was new and you never knew what was coming next. The game is still great to play, but I know the outcome of almost every quest at this point. And I'm on 360, so no mods for me, but that would be awesome to have this game for PC.
