Could Skyrim pull a Hammerfell on the Dominion?

Post » Wed Jul 31, 2013 12:16 am

if it was that simple, the Dominion could have easily destroyed the Empire in the initial attacks on Cyrodiil. Magic is powerful, but training people to get that good with it requires very long periods of time and there is going to be limits to their number. Making an entire ship invisible would be very difficult and take a lot of resources, all of which would be potentially lost because of the difficulties of just getting there.

Magic isn't an "I win" button the way you present it. If it was, the Thalmor would be in charge of Cyrodiil.

This summarizes my thoughts rather well.

We're talking about Stormcloak Skyrim ( Alone ) right now, not the whole Empire, cut down the numbers.

Nope, sorry. You convinently ignored two paragraphs before that one.

"The second army, largely of Nord Legions under General Jonna"

Largely. They were the majority. I'm not saying they don't deserve fame, but you have yo give credit to other races as well, even if the Nords are your favorite race. Not a single legion had half of its soldiers standing.

No I didn't. It says clearly that General Jonna's legions stopped the escape. Not General Jonna's legions and also every other race to please Shadow Titan's incorrect argument to defame Nords.

Exactly, it was the whole Imperial army fighting there ( Or at least what remained of it ).

Supposing they have floating ships and would summon something daedric that could wreck a whole city- which the Dagon invasion could do for only one city even with surprise in its favor- that still is only Windhelm. You'd have to subdue the rest of a country with harsh terrain and climate and a fully energized popular resistance. Terrain alone has broken many a big empire that thought itself invulnerable. Tiber overcame it because he had local help.

The only reason they have any foothold in Skyrim is because the traitorous empire turned on its own people instead of fighting the real enemy. Get rid of the milk drinkers and that's no longer an issue.

The same empire that handed over their military gains before, when it was even stronger and still had Hammerfell and an undivided Skyrim? The definition of insanity is...

So, to the OP, yes Skyrim would repel an invasion from the sissy elves.

An attempt by the Aldmeri to break out of the city to the south was blocked by the unbreakable shieldwall of General Jonna's battered legions.

And?

When http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Titus_Mede_II ascended the throne in http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Fourth_Era#4E_168, he inherited a weakened empire. The glory days of the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Septim_Dynasty were a distant memory. Valenwood and Elsweyr were gone, ceded to the Thalmor enemy. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Black_Marsh had been lost to Imperial rule since the aftermath of the Oblivion Crisis. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Morrowind had never recovered fully from the eruption of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Red_Mountain. Hammerfell was plagued by infighting between http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Crowns and http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Forebears. Only http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:High_Rock, Cyrodiil andhttp://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Skyrim remained prosperous and peaceful.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:The_Great_War_(book)

A Stormcloak Skyrim would be more politically stable than Hammerfell was at the time, comparable damage to the province. Pulling another "Hammerfell" on the Dominion, with more advantages than the Redguards had, sounds probable.

Wow. I'm not defaming anyone. I said the Nordic legions deserve credit. But not all the credit. The battle lasted 5 days. By that time, the Dominion army was surrounded by the entire Legion.

Theyd stand a good chance if the Dragonborn was involved...maybe with he reformed Blades by his side or the Greybeards, Paarthy and the dragons

Ahhh to dream.

They don't get all of the credit. Titus's forces forced the Thalmor to flee. The Nords stopped them from fleeing. When they stopped them from fleeing, it proved that warriors can defeat magic specialists for the second time. The first being the Nords making the Forsworn look like imbeciles up until the Nords left Markarth to save the failing, corrupt Empire.

So only the Nords deserve to get all the credit? What about the other Legions who drove them back? They don't deserve anything? You need to give others credit too. The Nords weren't the only ones who fought.

Not to mention that Redguards are even MORE anti-magic than the Nords and they are right next door to the Summerset Isles. Hammerfell had more disadvantages and still won in the end, so an Independent Skyrim has just as good a chance if not better than Hammerfell did.

I'm not getting involved too far, but it clearly says largely Nord. The word largely means that they weren't fully a Nord legion my friend.

Eh, the Redguard culture favors Destruction magic while Nords don't like any except their own. Nothing wrong with that of course.

Okay. I reread and see what you're talking about.

Okay so a very small number of Imperial warriors aided in proving that warriors can defeat mages. When you do the College of Winterhold quest line and ask about the Synod, you learn that they don't teach mages (ask Jzargo and the Arch Mage's secondary). Mages are rare in Titus's empire.

Well I'm out of here, can't wait for the Second Great War to see your "Great" warrior savages wiped out by Magic, you're underestimating it, prepare for the worst.

Not to say that those mages won't have their victories. But in the end, it will be either a united Empire or allied provinces defeating the Thalmor and ending their threat for good.

Lel, you don't deserve to have a signature containing the words of a Mage.
