Could Skyrim pull a Hammerfell on the Dominion?

Post » Wed Jul 31, 2013 6:15 am

Suppose Skyrim is now Stormcloak and Aldmeri forced launched a naval invasion from the sea of ghosts, and a land invasion from Cyrodiil, do YOU think a Skyrim recovering from a civil war could take the Dominion? Or would they just walk right in? How would YOU defend Skyrim from the Dominion? Discuss your armchair general battle tactics here.

Also, the Dragonborn has spent the last 6 months eating sweetrolls and is morbidly obese. He needs 4 people to help him stand up and is only interested in sweetrolls and mead. He is OUT of the equation. I REPEAT, HE IS OUT OUT OUT OUT OF THE EQUATION.

The Aldmeri Dominion got Magic, this is a huge reason.

I'm speaking of Lore Magic of course.

I would like to know how the Dominion has a land invasion force that went through Hammerfell and Cyrodill.

Even if Skyrim got under Stormcloak control, Cyrodill would not just let an army run through their borders.

Supposing they did. Not Hammerfell, only Cyrodiil.

With no Empire to do the talking, the savages will fall in a few hours, once again, MAGIC.

The Empire has the only chance of defeating the Dominion. Ulfric is more of a weakness than a hope, and the Thalmor knows it. Ulfric means well, but his good intensions lead to Oblivion.

Here comes another Civil War thread.

Anyway, let me explain my thoughts.

The Aldmeri Dominion can take Windhelm with three ships, that's how.

1. Ten Thalmor wizards on each ship.

2. The ships set sail to the shores of Skyrim while being invisible.

3. From here, the tactic can wildly change, because Magic.

4. The Thalmor could levitate their ships, go above Windhelm while having a Magical orb protecting the ships.

5. Summon something Daedric/fire hell below/etc.

6. Windhelm falls in two-three hours.

Actually, they'd rather not have him win either.

But as far as Skyrim pulling a Hammerfell on the Aldmeri Dominion, Skyrim would pull it off much easier, as even getting to Skyrim means a nightmarish amount of travel through mountain ranges the mer are not familiar nor used to, they'd have to sail a large distance from Summerset to Skyrim, which means they'd also have to evade a lot of icebergs and weather many storms. So, moving armies across is going to be quite difficult, and even when they get inside, they'll still have to put up with the (former) strong arm of the empire, deal with cold weather they're not used to, and navigate armies through tundra and mountains.

Wow....just.....wow....Can't tell if serious or trolling.

Of course the Thalmor would win. They were invading and conquering Skyrim even during the events of Skyrim. They would just make sure the Civil War goes on for as long as possible, and then decimate both parties swiftly.

Aldmeri rule for everyone!

Is everyone forgetting the Aldmeri Dominion arguably contains the best assassins in the game: the Bosmer? Not to mention their allies, the Khajiit? You cannot fight what you cannot see.

Magic + Stealth.

Unfortunately, Nords don't stand a chance.

Pale Pass is very narrow, and Altmer are Arrogant in thinking they could get through with enough of a Military Force left intact to actually do anything. The only real threat has to sail around Hammerfell and High Rock, or by Argonia and Morrowind.

The Fat Sweetroll addict could be used as a plug, that creates Thalmorsicles in exchange for more Sweetrolls and Honey-Nut Treats.

Bretons would have visible proof the Empire in Cyrod is a servant state of the Thalmor, and would begin with killing Imperial supporters in the Nobility. After the culling the Bretons may begin sending Aid to Skyrim.

Redgaurds would be very happy to have the ability to welcome the Thalmor into Skyrim, and Hammerfell does have a direct Land Route into Skyrim.

The Colovians would just stand by as the Thalmor march through Colovia, as Loyal Imperial Subjects.

The Nibenese would arrange the Ten Ancestors in White Gold to welcome thier Merish Masters back into power.

Magic,Magic !

People should stop thinking that the spells you get in the game is the true power of Magic.

I think skyrim could defense itself on its own.

They could pull a hammerfell on them :) My dreamteam would be Hammerfell+Skyrim now..

When I think of it the transportation is the hardest part, but you can just teleport the troops from Alinor.

Yes, their winning hand is to keep the war going. In this respect Ulfric is playing right into their hands, by weakening the Empire. From what I've seen of both the Empire and the Stormcloaks, the Empire would be the best one to win the Civil War for the sake of defeating the Thalmor. I also understand that the Empire are trying to bolster their southern borders against the Dominion during the time of Ulfric's Civil War? As a result, Ulfric's unintentionally doing the Thalmor's work for them by weakening the Imperial forces that are supposed to be guarding Tamriel ready for an attack. If that's the case then getting rid of Ulfric quickly is even more imperative for the survival of everyone.

This thread drips with so much anti-Skryim venom, any meaningful discussion is already dead.

And from what I remember part of it is caves? Very handy for ambushes. My Dragonborn is planning to heavily fortify the Skyrim ends of both the Pale Pass and the pass to Hammerfell for exactly this reason, to repel any Dominion ground assault.

Or do you mean Stormcloaks? Skyrim wise my Dragonborn will simply be replacing Ulfric, but done the right way, by allying himself with the Empire and possibly the remains of the Stormcloaks, not by being a thug army.

The Aldmeri Dominion doesn't need passes and roads, they can just teleport their way to Skyrim.
