Could ED-E solve all energy problems?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 4:06 am

With ED-E's ability to produce MF cells and small energy packs, let's just say the courier gave ED-E to the NCR. They could use him to to produce the cell and packs and incorporate them into a wide range of things. In time all energy problems would be solved.
Any thought?

well, thing is, a small robot like that isnt capable to produce enough energy for a nation of almost 2 million people. Soooo maybe mass produce, if the NCR is capable of it, considering technology and reasources. But how does he make the microfusion and energy cells anyway, solar power or what

Granted he could not produce enough to completely solve the problems of a whole nation, 35 MF cells a day isnt something to turn away either. ED-E himself probably runs MF cells, as those are basicly mini nuclear reactors.

The machines at the Sierra Madre would have solved the energy crisis but they weren't put into mass production before the Great War.

While the replicator machines and MF cells would have solved everything before the war. I am talking after the war and the NCR hasnt found the replicator machines yet.

If NCR could some how figure out ED-E and take the tech and replicate it on a grand scale than yes it would solve alot of problems.

I don't think ED-E being able to make energy cells was meant to be serious. But that's just my own personal feeling from it. Seems just an extention of being able to use him as a work bench.

While I have to agree with you on that, I always thought it went to show how high tech Enclave technology was. Just my thought though also.

How could he run on solar and produce MF cells? Unless he is using the replicator technology it isn't possible. He has to be running on breeder cells. It's the only way he could produce MF cells without the replicator tech.

Maybe if you give him to the Brotherhood who mass-produce him, then get the BOS to join the NCR. That could help with energy needs.

or kill the NCR, blow up the BoS and keep ED-E for himself XD or whatever. I doubt even the brotherhood can mass produce him, its not like they are swimming in manpower.

It specifically says in the slide show they build a small army of clones.

far as i can remember, all they did was hoard tech or keep the south of the Mojave safe, depending on what you did. although, there is also the option to [censored] them over, but... its hard to fight through an army of 50 heavily armored tech worshipping maniacs. i know cause i have been one of them b4.

That may be true. But the slideshow and the BOS themselves tell you they mass-produce them.

"With its logs cleared and its systems upgraded ED-E remained a vigilant and constant companion to The Courier. The Brotherhood used the information recovered from ED-E to create a small army of Duraframe eyebots."

I think that your taking a minor gameplay feature a little too seriously. I mean we never learn how these things float or how they are even powered for so long in the first place.

To be honest, the fact that he can produce them at all is a bit questionable IMO. In Fallout 3, eyebots were never meant to be more than little expendable recon bots.

Its a gameplay feature and not much more than that.

that doesnt make them able to solve a energy crysis involving 2 million people, no matter how many there are, unless there are just as many ed-e′s as there are people, i dont see how it would work out

I was just pointing out that they are also repair and medical bots also, not just recon robots.

There were not however, in Fallout 3. The divide somehow upgraded them or something.

In Fallout 3 they were advance Enclave scout and radios.
