Could the Dishonored World....

Post » Wed Sep 03, 2014 8:04 pm

possibly be a part of Nirn or a realm within Oblivion itself? I've been playing this game recently and it certainly feels like an Elder Scrolls game in more ways than one. I could actually see it being either....

1) An area of Nirn located somewhere in the distant sea. We know Tamriel is not the only continent and the rest of the world remains somewhat of a mystery.

2) A realm in Oblivion. Furthermore, the Void would be a Daedric Realm with the Outsider and god-like being before the Outsider being Daedric Princes. Obviously, the Outsider's Void is not the same as The Void mentioned in Elder Scrolls lore. Also, Dishonored Void is said to be like a sentient being itself so the Void is both a Daedric Realm and a Daedra (although that seems to be the case with all Daedric Realms anyhow).

3) Future Nirn is another possibility. I would certainly be much more exception of Dishonored being what happens to society in the future than the ideas brought forth in C0DA.

Were there ever any hints of Dishonored being in the cosmology, anyhow? I'm currently.... somewhere in the game after I rescued a certain person from a certain bathhouse. I'm digging in and interested in if those two franchises could reasonably cross over. Okay, I'll duck and dodge bullets now. :P

I guess future Nirn, or another past cycle, would be most likely. However as a complete fan of Dishonered I'd rather it have its own lore. Which it has a really good amount of. Oh here's to Dishonored 2, may it be just as amazing as the first...

I know some people might argue that it's set in a realm of Oblivion, and that the Outsider is a Prince. But http://billielurk.tumblr.com/post/85249527349/the-entire-mythos-conversation-many-thanks-to that the Outsider is just one in a series of disposable avatars spawned from the Void.

The Void is similar in many ways to Oblivion, but the metaphysics don't add up. But if you really want this to be a thing, why not. Another dream, perhaps.

Yeah I know that. That's why I mentioned the Void is like a sentient being itself and the Void could be the Prince itself.

Of course, I'm just having a little fun. I realize Dishonored wasn't meant to be in the ES universe but saying that it could fit in, albeit if they haven't ever hinted at it being so yet.

Last I heard, Dishonored 2 was being developed with CryEngine.

I believe the presentation of Dishonored's lore lends itself to the line of thought that it could be set somewhere the Elder Scrolls Universe. By that, I mean both universes have books lying around for the players to find, and the subjects of these books can be anything from local holidays to in-universe fiction to conjectural metaphysics, etc.

During my playthroughs -- and even still a little bit after the fact -- I was so convinced that even though there is so little in common between the two series, what little similarities the two had were so bold that there must exist some potential for cross over. I had developed these thoughts during the height of the Hunt for the Amaranth in the ES Lorum such that I nearly scat myself when I saw Sam's boat was named "The Amaranth."
