Could the heart of Lorkhan

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 9:09 am

of the Divines quest in Oblivion? Where Martin asks you to recover the Armor of Tiber Septim? Or a slice of it? Or was Lorkhan's nature closer an et'ada?

P.S. Before you feel that swelling in your chest that is pride, and decide to give a metaphysical response. Yes, I know that the Dagonites tricked the empire into fulfilling the Nerevarine Prophecies, and that the Heart of Lorkhan was a 'sigil stone' of sorts, and that if it had not been destroyed in the first place, there would be no Oblivion Crisis.

I don't think you could *slice it*.

The enchantments are the only reason it's visible in a physical matter and sustained. It's un-touchable with the enchantments on it. Only way to fix that is to break the enchantments off using Tonal Architecture; and, well, you see what happens in that case.

Also, Lorkhan IS an et'ada, i.e., an "original spirit." The Aedra and Daedra are teh et'Ada

Yes. As posed in my question, Lorkhan's nature seems to be ever elusive so I have called him an [D]Aedroth, but yes the et'Ada as the offspring of Anu-Padomay later became thier new roles. But could the heart of lorkhan have been used in any way? (Besisdes making yourself a god....)

It reminds me of the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" treatment of the Ark of the Covenant; I wonder if even touching the Heart of Lorkhan is dangerous without the proper rituals and instruments. Anyway, the Heart is long gone by the time of the next TES game, I imagine.

I'd like to see a follow up on Morrowind. The Nerevarine sure did screw the continent up, bringing down its gods and leaving it defenseless.

I don't think it could be helped; even Vivec realized there was no alternative and that Dagoth Ur had to be stopped before he and his monsters took over. I don't think Morrowind is really defenseless when it still has an army and the ability to find heroes like the Nerevarine when necessary. Though it's true that it would have been game over for Tamriel during the Oblivion Crisis were it not for the Champion.

He didn't leave it defenceless, I think he created some kind of government, why would he else go to Akavir?

I think it's safe to say that the Nerevarine didn't really do anything in regard to Morrowind's government. Power would probably "return" to the Great Houses (or however the gov't was the War of the First Council time-don't really remember right now), or whatever's left of them and how long that bit can hold together. Also, Helseth IS still alive; there is no lore stating he's gone.

It was either a Dagoth Ur dominated future or a future dominated by the unknown. The unknown may sound and look scary, but it has hope. There would be no hope if Ur had got the tools

I meant that he wouldn't go on a holiday without making sure that Morrowind is safe.

That could be subjective; the Nerevarine didn't quell the political and general unrest that had stricken Morrowind after Ur's defeat, so it's safe to say that Morrowind isn't just straight right now. We also still don't know what he went to Akavir yet; he could be going to destroy some threat to Morrowind; they did attack Morrowind before.

The Heart wasn't destroyed and the Liminal Barriers didn't disappear. Nirn is still here.

I can't really think of the details of the Divines quest, without playing through it (someone finish the TIL walkthrough, gdmnit) so I'm not sure how much sense it made in the first place, or how literal and scientific the requirements were. What I mean is, I doubt the portal had a recipe saying
Two teaspoons Et'ada blood plasma, type AO or OO negative...
