Atmora could be just the Kamal province in Akavir. It could explain why the kamal invasion of around 2E 550 went to sack windhelm in Skyrim first.
Just a thought.
There we go. Lets build the theory just for fun. Lets see what we can use to support this from the Lore.
The Nords came from a place called Atmora which was supposed to be a land with dragons. This place had a lot of dragons supposedly. Akavir means the land of the dragons. Correlation! Not connection though lol.
I remember reading something about the nords actually being from Tamriel originally. They went to Atmora for some reason, and then came back.
Yeah, I think some nedic people left for Atmora, then returned as the Nords being changed by the climate and following a different evolution from the nedes because of it. Hence they became a distinct new race.

Ysgramor was fleeing civil war when he initially returned, and the entire political system in Atmora collapsed, leading to them migrating back to Tamriel.

A Yay, but it was because of political instability that they returned. Not just the climate.
Which I didn't state, or at least didn't mean to state. I tried to write that the harsher climate made them evolve different, hence becoming the Nords or Atmorans.

Don't you guys get it? The dragons are really huge allies of the empire, HUGELY significant being in Imperial beliefs, and are near-divine! Killing one would almost be like a step down from killing the actual emperor! The reason why Cyrus was able to get away with it, was because he was a fugitive of the empire in the first place. No dragons. None.
This lore is no longer canon, as in its been refuted too many times in game.
Considering the Ysgramor stories are called Songs of the return, and that it's a fundamental part of Nordic mythology that they came to be on the Throat of the World, I really wouldn't claim it's been refuted all that much.
Well, it's certainly a plausible theory - there were humans in Akavir who were eaten, Akavir is snowy, Akavir means 'land of dragons.' Things are often misnamed by other cultures.
I also think that Esroniet is inhabited by the remnants of the human population of Morrowind, so we all have our pet theories
Could the Nords have been the Humans that disappeared from Akavir? Didn't the Ka Po Tun and Tsaeci fight a big Dragon war against one another? Did Atmora actually exist? Just some fun thoughts that will be shot down quite soon. ETA first poster...
All life started on Tamriel. The Nords left for one reason or another and went to Atmora. They then left to come back. I think something of an ice age happened up north which is why Atmora is now uninhabitable. Anyway point is the place is real

I'm pretty sure that Esroniet was supposed to be made of ice cream, actually. Or was that Roscrea?
