Could this be the last fallout game?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 3:47 am

in my opinion alot of the first fallout fans will be dissapointed in the way bethesda has taken this franchise even fallout 3 and nv fans

mainly because this game will be a very linear story driven shooter with a pre set character and not the original concept of a open world rpg where you can go where ever you want do whenever you want when ever you want with whoever you want , within the game limits of course

from every thing they showed and publushed about FO 4 this game is tailored towards people who are either too lazy or too stupid to use their own imaginatuion

but no this will not be the last it is a gold mine , but for alot of the fans of the original it will be the last one

of course i could be com^metemy wrong about how the game will be like and i do hope i am wrong but like i said from all the information we got till now i doubt it

Consider how baseless your assumption are, it's pretty much a fact you'll be proven wrong.

Very unlikely.

Even discounting all the places in the American south we have yet to visit, Bethesda very clearly established 5 major wastelands on the east coast in Fallout 3. Those being D.C., The Pitt, The Commonwealth, The Broken/Crater Banks, and Ronto. We got D.C. in Fallout 3, The Pitt in the DLC of the same name, and we are getting The Commonwealth in Fallout 4, so that leaves Ronto in the north, and The Broken Banks south of D.C., left to do before Bethesda finishes up just all the stuff they established in Fallout 3.

On top of that,

-There's several major cities in the south, such as Miami, New Orleans, and Nashville, they could use for a "Fallout: The South" trilogy, as a sequel to this east coast trilogy they seem to be building.

-Theres stuff in the Western United States that Obsidian said they would love to do, such a Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and theres even the Seattle/Portland area, which they haven't mentioned, but is still up for grabs.

-When it comes to the Midwest, Chicago is still open, and its central location gives them DLC possibles to everywhere from St Louis and Minneapolis, all the way to Cincinnati and Detroit. As well as some canon info on the MwBoS

So long as Fallout makes them money, and so long as theres major America metropolises to visit, theres no reason for them to not make a Fallout game.

Why do these threads pop up every time Bethesda release a new game? :bonk:

Because they're afraid that Bethesda's just going to randomly call it quits.

No, this isn't going to be the last Fallout game they make. They bought the IP, which probably cost them a lot of money. Why would they just quit after making only two games? We've a lot more Fallout games to looking forward to from them, don't you worry.

You do know the game isn't even out yet right, unless you are a time traveller.

Huh? Those two events don't correlate.

Why would them making it a good game be evidence that it would be the last game?

I don't see any logic in this sequence of events.

In fact I see the opposite, that they would want to make a good game to garner favor for future purchases of DLC and subsequent full games.

If FO4 is a success, there will be FO5. But first...TES 6!

Doubtful?

The bombs assumedly may have only fell on the united states and China. No one knows really. But for all we know the rest of the world is still functioning.

Vault tec was an american company commissioned by the govt. So no vaults anywhere but america.

Fallout has always been a series about 'Murica for better or worse.

In some ways I think it's appropriate as well. We can make fun of ourselves really well in fallout. It wouldn't feel quite right to try and make fun of some other country in a fallout game.

I don't see it happening but it could make sense if NCR were to venture beyond the original country's boundaries.

So you think it will be a linear shooter?

Like a call of duty single player?

I don't know what information you've seen but I've seen quite the opposite of that notion.

Also new vegas and 3 had a pre-set character just as much as this one will. In vegas you are forced into the role of the courier and into the role of a vault dweller in 3. In this one you'll be forced into the role of a pre-war survivor.

Is this trolling? I'm confused.

All their previous games have had linear Main Stories, built around a semi-defined protagonist, with some pretty specific starting "Go do this!" setup. And they've still happily let you say "nah" and wander off across the game world to do what you want.

The Emperor walks up to you (in a place you shouldn't be!), says "I've seen you in a Prophetic Dream!", and then hands you The Plot Device! Or you can go do what you want.

An ancient & legendary dragon interrupts your execution, and you're then sent off to warn the kingdom about the dragons returning, at which point you learn you're Special and a booming voice from the sky calls for you. Or you can go do what you want.

You Dad's escape from the vault causes an insurrection, throwing you out into the wastes to find him, and get drawn into an effort to save (or damn) the wasteland. Or you could go do whatever you want.

You're a Courier whose mysterious cargo got him robbed & left for dead. Your quest for vengeance will lead you directly into a central role in a major conflict for the future of the Nevada Desert (and the rest of the West Coast). Or you could go do whatever you want.

All of these characters had pre-defined aspects and/or roles, as well as a linear story they were central to. None of which stopped you from ignoring it and wandering around instead. (Many of them were also complained about by "serious roleplayers" who were offended that the game dare inflict a plot on them, so this is nothing new, either. Couple months, and the "Live Another Life: Boston Edition" mod will come out, so that some people can play a subsistance farmer or psychotic feral raider orphan.)

I prefer Fallout, but I will definitely get super excited when they announce TES 6: Dominion (you can take that to the bank). Actually, they probably have a few people working on it already, although we won't hear about it for 3 years or so.

Yeah, I'm guessing they started working on it once the Skyrim DLC was done.

Considering Fallout Shelter is selling like hot-cakes and that it serves as a giant advertisemant for Fallout 4 likely means that this franchise is going to stick around for a long time. We may not see it for another eight-ten years after Fallout 4, as Bethesda is likely working on Elder Scrolls Summerset Isles, unless Obsidian or some other company decides to make another Fallout game.

We still got this one coming down the wood works though!

Fallout and Elder Scrolls are Bethesda's top sellers and they both sell like hotcakes. While this 99.999% won't be the last Fallout game, I wouldn't be surprised if there's another 4-5 year wait before we see the next installment. Especially if they decide to go beyond the initial Season Pass in terms of DLC and keep supporting it with DLC. Not to mention mods of course will extend the life of the game.

But no, this isn't the last we will see of Fallout. It makes Bethesda too much money! :D

Unlikely, did you feel the same about Skyrim?

Frankly the only threat to the current cycle of Fallout and TES is a true mess of a game that will unite the public in a firestorm of contempt everytime the game is mentioned.......even then as Fallout has proven it can survive a truely poor game (and i'm not talking 1,2, Tactics, 3 or New Vegas but that other game which is never mentioned :stare: ). Thankfully Bethesda isn't interested in churning out yearly games and milking the franchise.

Unlikely they bought the ip just to make two games (and publish another) then call it quits. They've done some world building along the east coast and i think that they have plenty to places to go for the next fallout

There's no way. Pre-sales, reviews, hype - even if FO4 performs not great, but on par, there will be enough financial motivation to make another. So let's take that doubt off the table. Aside from that, there's still plenty of lore to explore and expand on that makes another fallout game a no-brainer.

I get the feeling that FO5 will be out much sooner than seven year wait in between FO3 and FO4
