Could 4 GB Vram run good visual mods?

Hi !

I am about to buy a GTX 760 4GB in order to replace my GTX 560 Ti 1GB. The other specs will remain the same and they are:

- Win 7 64 bits Ultimate Ed

- i7 3770k @ 3.50 GHz (a non-overclocked CPU)

- 8 GB Ram

- One monitor at 1920x1080 res

I'm planning to install mods aiming to improve Skyrim beauty (and maybe one quest mod or three :))

The mods I'm planning to install are: RealVision ENB, W.A.T.E.R, Skyrim HD, SMIM, Enhanced Blood Textures, Real Glacier Mod, maybe a flora mod (still searching for a good mod here), and some few mods like Immersive Creatures and other improving-dragons mods.

Can this new configuration run Skyrim with acceptable fps ? What do you say ?

PS: if you want to, you can give opinions regarding the mods I am about to install (newer ones, mod Y is better optimized than mod X, etc).

Thanks!

I run those and more with a 2gb 660 TI at 1080p and usually stay above 45 fps, more often than not I'm at 60 fps.

Come on, Man. You have a top of the line video card. Of course you're going to be able to run high quality graphics mods. Just keep pushing it until you find your limit.

Also, I suggest Vurt's Skyrim Flora Overhaul.

i highly (HIGHLY) suggest installing the new "skyrim memory patch" by Sheson or the latest SKSE version (i THINK it's 1.7 and it's an alpha) since it has the new memory patch included that allows you to up the uGridsToLoad to higher than 5 without crashing (it seems to handle even ugrids=11 easily, though such value might cause some quest error).

i think the the ugrids are one of the things that really help make the game look better without all the pop-ins of high LODs.

At 4GB of VRAM, you have more than enough to keep you comfortable.

I have a 4GB 670, and have been very happy with the decision to pay a little extra for the additional memory.

To add to what Topeira said, you need both the memory patch AND ENB (or ENBoost) to make use of all of that memory. I've seen total mem use near 5GB and VRAM use of ~3.8GB (without crashes) thanks to those mods.

For base textures, I like the http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/20801/?, which helps you combine the best options from around 100 other texture and mesh mods. You won't go wrong using the http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/11/?, either. After installing all the mods for TPC, I add male/female textures, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/24909/? textures (this is his combined mod), parallax textures with http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40512/?, and a few others depending on my current character.
