Could you travel somewhere from this port?

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:53 pm

I hope so!One of my biggest dissapointments in Oblivion was that despite the fact that the game had some ports they were actully useless since you couldnt travel anywhere. If you watch closely behind this rock arch you'll watch a harbour. So i am wondering if you will be able to travel to some remote islands from there...

I certainly hope so. We know that fast travel is in, although I'm hoping they integrate it with a travel system that was like Morrowind's. As long as the fast travel is optional, I'll be happy.

Well the reason you didn't travel anywhere because there was only one real port town, anvil. Technically you could say the Imperial City also, but I don't see the point of only have two points that could use that travel system when you can just fast travel really.

Also, that picture I would say is Solitude.

As long as the fast travel is optional

Always has been optional.

One of the things i loved in morrowind was all these islands that gave you a sense of exploration. You steped on an island and you didnt knew what kind of surprise you would found there. Will Skyrim have islands?

Yes yes... I know. And I didn't really want to go there... I said possible. Just throwing that out there, maybe on release you might not be able to travel anywhere "yet".

Unless Bethesda have been listening to fans who want a Morrowind style fast travel system, it will probably be for show. That it, of course, until someone mods it.

They had one boat mission in Oblivion, so hopefully it will return and be improved and more exciting (storms, sea monsters, treasure islands).

That would be nice. Return to fast traveling via silt striders or boats.

Of course you could from that port. Walk up the pier, and then initiate fast travel. You traveled from the port, to the tavern! Who needs boats, they can't even go on land!

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing, it would be a good way to add in DLC.
