Couldn't save after starting new character

So the title says it all, really. After hearing the new update was out on PS3, I deleted all the Skyrim data off of my hard drive, downloaded the 1.09 update, and started a new character. Right after I completed my character and made it out of Helgen Keep into the open world, I opened up the system menu and realized that I couldn't save. The options to save and load were completely blanked out. I thought it wouldn't be a problem, because I remembered that the whole time before when I was playing, it kept saying it was autosaving. Well, when I quit the game and went to load a save file, none of those autosaves registered...I only had the file right before you customize and name your character when you exit the wagon at the very beginning.

To be fair, when I loaded up that save file, the options to save and load were restored, but I'm so disgusted with the game right now, and I'm so sick of losing all of my game progress and having to go through that opening sequence again and again just to see whether Bethesda actually fixed their crappy programming or not that I'm in no mood to hop back into it right now. I might give it a shot again later, but I started over with an all new character and all new save data to make sure all the things that could get fixed got fixed and that i got the definitive Skyrim experience. ...And, for me, the definitive Skyrim experience is still a buggy game made by a company that couldn't care less about the people actually playing it. At least this time, it bugged out early and didn't break on me at the 70-hour mark like the last several times I tried one of their so-called patches.

Even if, by some miracle, this game works properly for me a year from now, I'm so done with this company. I flat out lost my $60 by buying this game. Better luck to the rest of you, and I hope you continue to get some enjoyment out of it. Anyway, that's enough broken-game-beta-testing for me today. I'm coming back now, Dragon's Dogma...I'm sorry I ever took you out of the disc drive in the first place!

Hi, Paper, I think I remember you from past posts. I've certainly read many complaints over the past 16 months of people who have had the 2 most common starting over problems, unable to save and complete loss of prior character. I've avoided those by never starting over. Yes we've all had a sliding scale of problems and for me, on both consoles, but I persevere because Skyrim is so awesome it's worth it. I've played many other games over these 16 months but I can't foresee quitting Skyrim until there are no more DLC.

With all due respect to those of you who keep restarting, I can't help but think that's the major reason for your frustration. I'm 16 months in on my original and only PS3 character, I got the plat over a year ago and I'm still happy with my game, coming up on 600 hours. I'm always saddened by people who quit, but of course playas gotta do what playas gotta do.
