Couple of questions about beta keys handout

Post » Wed Aug 27, 2008 4:11 pm

Dear CRYTEK staff:

I want to say hello to all of you guys. I'm a new member, just registered.
The site is beautiful, congratulations on that, and for all the hard work you put to provide the service to your fans.

QUESTIONS:
1. Can i hope to get a beta key in near future?
2. Will all of the users that registered in the early period (e.g. 24 hours, 7 days) get the beta keys, or will there be a selection?
3. Are there any specific criteria for selection of the people that will get the beta, for example platform, profession, experience with testing the applicatons etc?
4. When can we expect first beta keys handouts?

Thanks in advance.
Greetings

Calm down...There hasn't been much talk about the beta, nor clarification of what they meant when they announced it. Furthermore this site is still in the transition of going LIVE, with the actual re-launch of the site being tomorrow... So you shouldn't really expect any information till at least after tomorrow...

Don't worry you signed up in time, just wait for the official news and watch the forums, and you will be fine.

I am registered here since at least a year of not more and I wonder if I can also hope for a key.

Anyway, theres basically no news on when the Crysis 2 beta will start, or on what platform it will be on. Im ASSUMING it will be on PC, and possibly consoles as well, but thats only a guess.

I'd very much like to be in the beta. I assume they'll e-mail keys out randomly because I didn't really see any application of some sort.

I REALLY hope it is for ALL 3 systems. If it is just PC I'll have to give mine away because my PC is having issues running BF2

Answers one of your questions ,
Looking to get your hands on Crysis 2 early? Now is your chance! Early registrations will be tracked, and our first wave of users will have a chance to win a key as and when the Crysis 2 beta takes place. All you need to do is sign up early and one day in the near future you may be receiving a mail with an invite to the game
:D

Thank you guys for the info and advices. I just thought there are some informations about beta key handouts. I guess we'll know everything in a couple of days. They will probably hand keys on random basis, although i wouldn't want that.
I'm saying this because i'm a software tester (and a passionate gamer for 10 years), and that i could help in testing Crysis 2.
Oh, who am i kidding, you probably think that I just want a piece of Crysis 2 to play :) which is true to some extent :)
See you tomorrow guys, it's 2 AM here, gotta go to sleep, need to get up to go work tomorrow. :)

I will tell you one thing, betas will always probably be in testing only for PC. I never heard of a beta for consoles however. I am looking forward to this and very eager to hear info! :D

I think there's a misconception that the beta is going to start sometime soon, it will likely take place in several months.

Yeah, maybe by having the site act so slow and only having the first few who signed up get to play the beta, it was a clever way of seeing who had a fast enough connection to muddle through the lag. I'm glad I just signed up for Comcast 22 meg which is testing at 39 megs w00t!. :(

That's all very ridiculous though. Your web latency to this overloaded server has little to do with your ability to play the game at high settings, giving the game a proper beta test and giving Crytek good useful feedback.

There have been console betas for Halo 3 and Reach, Call of Duty Modern Warfare and World at War, Blur, Modnation Racers, Uncharted 2 (I think). I can't think of any others. Maybe it will be multiplatform. That would be sweet. That way they can test it on everything. Maybe there will be certain periods of time where PS3 users will test it out, then Xbox, then PC (not particularly in that order.

I have both a PS3 and a 360 so if I'm lucky enough to get a beta code I should be set, unless it's a PC-only beta then I'm screwed.

By early sign ups for BETA, what did it exactly mean, 1 hour?
