I can help you with the House problem... If you talk to Lucas Simms (the guy in Megaton dressed as the "sheriff") ask him about the bomb. He will tell you that if you can disarm the bomb he pay you. When you disarm it he will also give you the key to the house. But if you go to Moriarty's Saloon after talking to Lucas Simms and talk to Mr. Burke he will give you a bomb and tell you to rig the big bomb in the center of Megaton. The choice is yours... Either way you get a house and some caps. But Mr. Burke's method pays better.

Yeah like he said if you talk to Lucas Simms about disarming the bomb he will give you a house in Megaton. If you talk to Mister Burke about blowing the bomb up he gives you a penthouse suite in Tenpenny Tower. Both houses are about the same because they come with the same items and bonuses, but it all depends on rather you want to play a good or evil character. Also Burke pays more caps then Simms does. To mess with the bomb in Megaton you need an explosive skill of 25, taking mentats and wearing clothing that increases perception or explosive skills helps.

No, 30. And this thread should really be in the Cheats and Spoilers section.

Oh you're right, I'm just used to bringing it up to 25 when I exit the Vault then using mentats to get the other 5 points to mess with the bomb.

No you only need 25 explosives to dissarm the bomb (I don't think there's any level requirement to rig it to explode you just need the part thar Burke give you.) I should know, I have pretty bad restartitus so I do that quest all the time. You need 30 repair to fix the leaky pipes, maybe your confusing it with that quest or have some kind of mod installed that changes it.

He/She is right.

The rule is there for a good reason...to stop people being given information that they 'don't want to find out about' unless they actually look in the 'spoilers' place, and to stop the people giving out the information from being banned.

Since this isn't a spoiler heavy thread, anything related to spoilers can be put in a [spoiler] [ /spoiler] tag, which people can then open if they wish to see the contents. This keeps spoilers from popping up.
Pretty sure since the spoiler in this game is pretty minimal (and the game TELLS you how much you need to diffuse the bomb), a spoiler tag will suffice.

I think it's more about the part of blowing the bomb.

That message means you need to update GFWL. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/892715-troubleshooting-tips/page__view__findpost__p__15230022
