Courier's Age

Post » Sun Oct 03, 2010 4:27 pm

I read a while back that you could actually choose the age of the courier. Did they mention how old? I imagined my Courier as an old man running around the Mojave desert.

And if so, how old are you going to make your Courier? I'm going to make mine an old woman. Time to show the world that Grannies can get tough. :)

I dunno if they have an age slider for a specific age.
More like a slider that will create more wrinkles and such in your face.
And then it's up to the player to decide what age he/she is.

Nobody knows but something tells me the minimum age is 17 because running around as a baby in the Gmorrah will make a few people angry.

I wonder what the age range will be?

Wasn't FO 1 and 2s, 16 to 35 or something like that?

16-45 I believe in Fallout 2.

I'm hoping you actually set an age, and that influences looks and NPC reactions or dialogue.

I know if you set your character age to be real young in Fallout 2 NPCs will sprinkle their dialogue with things like "kid", "stripling", and "young'n". Would be nice to see the world react to your character's age in different ways, like a club not wanting an old character for their new dancing gig, or a casino owner not trusting a 16 year old to be his enforcer.

I guess if your character's 30 he has it made.

YES, there's an age selection. Sheesh, I thought this was common knowledge by now.

Odds are we can choose from the standard Fallout 3 ethnicities, and possibly the middle-aged and old versions as well.

If you've got the PC version, you can probably mod in a ghoul race. Basically, you have the potential to be anywhere from a teenager to 200+ years old.

In Fallout 3 there was no age slider as the story basically locked you into being a person aged between 18 and 22. You left the Vault just as you reached your majority.

In New Vegas the Courier can be any age you want them to be. In Oblivion, which used the same face gen system you could adjust your characters age from about 18 to mid to upper 60's. With tweaks, you could shave a couple years off or add a few years too.

I do hope the face gen is as granular as it was in Oblivion, you could really get in there and tweak individual features. Probably because of the different races and ages.

I wonder if it'll show your age like in 1, and 2.

And if you'll have a pre-set birthday.

I would say that if there is an age slider it will be 17-45 at most.

Why 35 or 45? Why can't you be older? There are many people in the wasteland who seem much older than that, so it can't be that someone over 45 have less chance of survival. Realistically, everyone in the wasteland are radiated so they'd al develop some kind of cancer which would kill them before they might get 65+, but I do still think that for role playing purposes, you should be able to be 65 at least. I know some people in that age, while they aren't exactly jumping around like some 18 year old, they are a bit frisky.

I'd say 16 to 65. It's a good number, we've had that before, it's not too young nor too old, and it also reminds me of when your country gets invaded, every male between 16 and 65 are to defend it. Dunno if that's for every country, or if my country still has that but... Whatever, I like the number.

I'd say ok that if the game offered an "Over the hill" trait (added when you advance the age above a certain point),
that drops the endurance and strength by 1 while raising two other stats by 1.

There is a flaw in this though... Any PC that is "over the hill", has made it to the top already.
