Is Covenant Intentional?

Post » Mon Feb 08, 2016 1:58 am

I'm just wondering... is there any point to Covenant as a settlement at all? As it stands, if you attempt to build power/defenses, they are attacked by the existing turrets, so it is kind of pointless to use it.

Has anyone made effective use of Covenant after killing the inhabitants? Does it end up working effectively if you move people there?

What about if you side with the Covenant's leaders? Do the turrets end up counting towards defense, or does the same problem present itself?

Both my games are long past the Covenant mission, or I'd test myself, so thanks to anyone with info. :P

Personally I am friends with Covenant and the turrets don't attack my defences.

From what I have read I don't think the existing turrets contribute to settlement defence figures.

It just acts like any other settlement for me now.

Except for a couple of smoking turrets that can't be repaired using normal means and other non-scrappable items around the place.

After making friends with the named settlers I have, during the night, assassinated a couple of those that annoyed me.

There were no witnesses so everything is still cool.

Some items are still shown as owned but that can be overcome in Workshop mode.

It was neat. Managed to hold the button to move things and moved the undeletable beds to a "store shed" outside and behind the wall.

Kept the key to the one building and didn't delete those doors so I was using it as my personal house.

Also managed to build a few small buildings and set up everything.

I didn't have too many problems with it to be honest and was neat I could keep that one house locked if I wanted. The turrets they have don't count and I ended up killing them anyways and making mine in their place. Once I got rid of those beds by hiding them in a building type thing behind the covenant it was okay. Didn't know if that affected the settlers or not as I build an extra amount for them inside. If it did I didn't notice.

Only problem is the bodies, they don't disappear but I was able to move them outside as a warning to raiders and they ended up staying out there. Had to clear some turret bits too but that was more OCD lol. I found it to be one of the more interesting bases I made too because of the natural wall and buildings.

Everyone in Covenant perished in an...........um.............unfortunate accident that also took out all the turrets. So far nothing has re-spawned.

If u go anti covenant , you need to destroy all defences to use it as your own settilment,

U can't build on top of the flaming/smoking turrents, that's the price U have to pay for being a non covenant supporter,

But u can build turrets on supports on the walls if you get into building things.

Covenant is kind of buggy. Even if you kill everyone in town, the loot doesn't change ownership, and even things like the beds don't change ownership. I'm on PC, so I took the time to change the ownership with the 'setownership' command on the beds and items, and the used 'disable' and 'markfordelete' to get rid of the turrets.

Yeah that's why I had to move the beds/bodies. The beds were unusable/undeletable. After that I had no problems really. Was able to either loot all items or break whatever down and use like that.

There is a little thing you can do to remove those beds.

build a floor piece.

put the beds on it and store or scrap the floor piece

Personally I found Covenant as a settlement to be too much of a hassle. Not only do the turrets and bodies not go away if you side against them, but a lot of stuff that should be scrappable isn't, some stuff doesn't change ownership, and there's very little room to build anything new. About the only thing it has going for it is the magnificent defensive potential, assuming it doesn't suffer from the enemies spawning inside the walls problem.

It sounds like I'd have to pick a different approach to make much effective use.

The artillery coverage is somewhat redundant because of Taffington. Of course, I made sure in both games that all the cats survived (I will never forgive the institute for the "incident at Sandy Coves Convalescent Home."
