CoW: A Place of Adventure!

What a busy place!

So i pass the entrance exam and get the "gand tour." It was late in the evening so I thought I'd sleep before heading off to Orientation class. I sit through the class and we get set to leave for Saarthal. As we start to cross the bridge, a Dragon attacks! (I'm using an alternate start mod that delays dragin attacks, so this was my first Dragon appearance (at level 8)). Well, my freshman class passes our first "magic test"

So, I head into Saarthal and get sent back by Tolfdir with "big news!" I arrive at the college at about "oh dark thirty." Well, I sleep instead of disturbing the Arch Mage. After waking, I head by the entrance (instead of cutting across the lawn) and notice "activity" down in the town. I think I see a spell going off. Off I go!

At the end of the ramp, a massive vampire attack is taking place! I run in to help!

Well... 6 deaths (reloads) later, I lead those nasty blood-svckers back into the college, for help. After my 4th death in town, I realized that by the time I arrived, the Winterhold Guards were already dead, leaving me with 2 Master Vampires, 2 Vampire Thralls, and 2 Dogs. That's a bit much for me on my own

After receiving the help I needed up at the college, I have now made level 10. As I head back into town to loot er... make sure everyone is OK, up struts Durag(?), the Dawnstar recruiter. I wanted to yell at him, "Where the heck were you 20 minutes ago?!?"

Yes, the Colege of Winterhold is one busy place :D

I love it when these kinds of things happen. I find myself leaving the beaten path all the time, whenever I see some kind of fracas in the distance. I feel compelled to go and watch.

This is one area in which I think Oblivion and Skyrim beat Morrowind. In Oblivion and Skyrim you're never quite sure what you are going to encounter when you turn a corner or walk over the top of a hill. And if you throw mods into the mix, it becomes even more wildly unpredictable.

My games can't be too random or too surprising, is my attitude.

On a recent character I had gone to Morthal and got involved in the Movarth quest. I cleaned out that nest of bloodsvckers, exited the cave and headed back to town at about 2-3 AM. As I got close to the bridge I hear the sounds of battle and wouldn't you know it the town was under attack by vampires. :tes:

Whatever BGS dev thought it'd be a good idea to drop boss-level monsters into a town full of non-respawnable lemmings needs to be beaten with an angry slaughterfish.

And the recruiter's name is Durak.

So, this 'Dawnstar Recruiter' is the product of a mod, right? Can't find any references in the wiki...

What does he do?

Busy indeed, and thanks for sharing! Like Pseron, I love it when stuff like that happens. Heh, it seems whenever my charracter gets swamped with all kinds of things like that going at once, that's the time she gets interrupted by that thief telling her to hold onto his stolen 'Iron war axe of doom'. :bunny:
