Cowboy Repeater: Consistently Inaccurate?

Post » Thu Oct 13, 2011 12:04 pm

I've been trying out a strict Cowboy Perk character (just uses the weapons described on the perk list) and I was finally forced to use the Cowboy Repeater for long range shooting since I couldn't use my old friend the modded Varmint Rifle. I'd always just written off the Repeater as a point blank dps weapon for those "Oh crap! Where's the VATS button." moments. At first I wasn't impressed until I started to notice that if I aimed slightly to the left (ie lay the front blade on the left hand edge of a human target facing straight towards me) I could consistently get a kill. Is this something anyone else has noticed or is it just a coincidence?

I was using a Repeater with the Custom Action mod and was Level 60 Guns skill when I first noticed this. I'll try again tomorrow with different mod combo's to see if I can reproduce this result.

Some weapons you just have to find the sweet spot. The service rifle for example I found out that you have to aim a little low.

The brush gun for me is terrible for accuracy, I have to rely on VATS anytime I use it. Its a shame
