[REQ] Cowl Model/Texture

Post » Sun Jul 03, 2011 3:30 am

Hey guys and girls,

I grabbed a mod the other day called 'Midnight Helm' which adds a unique helm as an additional quest reward when you complete the Thieves Guild missions (ala the Cowl of Nocturnal in Oblivion). I like the concept quite a bit, but I wanted to change the stats on the item.

That part is easy.

The difficult part is the model - the one included with the mod is a rework of a Morag Tong helm, but it doesn't mesh well with BB/BH and there is some fairly nasty clipping at the neck.

I had a go at changing it...then gave up and decided I would look for a better helm that looked a little more like the Cowl of Nocturnal - although I don't want a direct copy of that.

I grabbed the 'Death Dealer Helm' mod and played around with the model in NifSkope. I removed the disks, the horns and the spike - what's left is a pretty cool Cowl shaped helm. However, it's not quite right. I feel the helm is actually oversized (at least with the BB/BH models anyway) so I resized it and tilted slightly to make it line up. The problem I have with it is that the bottom 'spikes' to either side of the mouth curve out and away from the face, which looks a little 'gappy' from below. The texture also does not look right at all with the other components removed.

I've tried to play around with the model in Blender but I really, really can't get to grips with it. I'm no artist,

What I'd really like to know is:

1) Does anyone know of a retexture for the DDHelm that might work?

2) Does anyone know of any particularly suitable helms? I'd like something unique rather than a retexture of a standard item.

3) If the answer is no to both, would anyone be kind enough to make me one?

Thanks for taking the time to read this,

Thanks, but I've already got Blender and the scripts working, but I don't really get on with it, and even assuming I did I don't have the talent to create what I'm looking for - hence the original post :)
