[RELWIP] Crafting 300: Armoury of Tamriel, Thread 4

Yeah, it would definitely take a change to the UI, but I'd guess it should be possible to compile a list of keywords for the item card code to look for, and if found, display the result in a new field.

It would be cool if, in addition to the Damage, Weight, and Value fields that are there currently, there were Material and Style fields.

Material already exists as a thing. I'm not sure if it's exposed to the UI. It probs will be, if behippo has anything to say about it.

Would require aforementioned item card revision to display though.

This mod looks wonderful. I love that image you posted of all the basic longsword material variations, I can't wait until you finish all the rest.

I have a couple of questions though. First one, armor type (light or heavy) is still tied to material right? So you could make, say, heavy Elven style ebony armor or light Orcish style glass armor? I sure hope so, I've always preferred the looks of heavy armor in elder scrolls games so I always pick heavy armor skill even if I'm playing a thief or assassin.

Second, what about non-metal materials? Any plans to make material variations for fur, hide, leather, etc. armors? It would be pretty cool if you could use hides and pelts from stronger animals like Cave Bears and Snow Wolfs to craft stronger retextured variations of fur and leather armor.

What about some of the less common armor types, will there be material variations for plate armor, scale armor, studded armor, banded iron, nord hero, etc? What racial style would those become?

What about some of the armors that can't be crafted? Are you planning to make craftable material variations of wolf armor, forsaken gear, falmer gear, thieve's guild armor, nightingale armor, blades armor, ancient nord gear, etc? (I bet the methods for learning those styles would be interesting)

This is probably asking a bit much, but I would love to see weaker retextured variations of dragonbone armor using cheaper materials that could be crafted earlier in the game (I really love the look of that set). Perhaps something like: Trollbone armor (made from troll skulls), horkerbone armor (made from horker tusks) and mammothbone armor (made from mammoth tusks).

I really hope you find a modeller to join forces with, I would love to see new armor models for Khajit, Argonian, Redguard, Breton and Bosmer style weapons and armor.

Anyway, keep up the fantastic work!

For now, Baratan is only working with weapons.

Oh okay, I could of sworn I saw a picture of iron armor material variations earlier in the thread though.

I agree with Jupiah (except that I don't like the look of the dragonbone items lol) I would love to make some dragonskin leather

Heh, I can proofread OK, but I don't think I have the knowledge of lore required to come up with backstories for a gazillion unique weapons.

Well. Most of them already have back-stories. Including where they're from, who owned them, what they looked like, what they did. It's just a matter of summarizing those details into a very small amount of words. For example....

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Soul_Drinker#Soul_Drinker
Given to the player in Morrowind as a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Catch_a_Spyreward for a Mages' Guild quest. There's a lot of background information on the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Ranis_Athryswho gives it to the player. It could be assumed that the dagger was made by or made for, or by that character. There's just so much good information I have a hard time choosing just one sentence to describe the weapon. And that's just one, minor, mostly unheard of weapon.

Do you guys mind if I use the Morrowind method of displaying enchantments? I won't give each effect it's own line, but I will describe them briefly like http://members.shaw.ca/rado907/arts/weapons/gravedigger.jpg. Assuming I was making this same, exact weapon in Skyrim, it's description would say....
Insert Flavour text Here. On Strike: Damage Health 40 pts, Paralyze 3 seconds

I'd be fine with that.

Time for a new thread, btw.
