Crafting - BOP?

Post » Mon Feb 24, 2014 5:49 pm

I thought I heard one answer on this somewhere, but I am having trouble verifying it one way or the other...

in what circumstances, if any, can a crafting product only be used by the maker? or are crafted things always tradable, at least before they are used/equipped?

trying to work out a plan for what characters I want to have doing what, and this has the potential to be highly relevant.

I believe all crafted items are not bound on pickup nor account.

I've never made or heard of any crafting product that was BoP, or even BoE. I don't think there are any, but the folks who have played to high levels might have a different take.

One semi-exception (I guess) would relate to folks with the Imperial Edition. They get the ability to make their armor look like Imperial armor regardless of stats, but that causes it to become soulbound. That's not really a crafting thing, though. (This isn't a costume, as many of us thought; it actually involves using a special menu option on the armor.)

At some point in interviews either Nick Konkle or Paul Sage said there were no BoP crafted items in game. That does not mean there never will be, just there isn't currently.

Imperial crafted armour can not be sold to players without the imperial edition. Not sure about others with IE.

Edit: Is not crafted and morphed gonna lead to the same outcome?

I wouldn't expect so, since you don't have to have the IE to CRAFT Imperial armor. Anybody who can find the style book can do it.

I find it funny you're crafting a gear that is soul bound

when you have been dispossessed of your very soul.

Ok. Thanks!

I am rather encouraged by that. one more common MMO mechanic that they are not going with the common convention on. personally I've always found "soulbound" items to be sorta a copout, lazy way to artificially increase demand for crafted items, or to keep looted items "rare" in an arbitrary sorta way.
