Crafting Lockpicks

As part of blacksmith (an item that craft can make), should ZOS allow to craft lock picks out of Iron? Just trying to think this idea on many different POV's

It wouldn't be too bad to add because people could question how lockpicks are made and how over millions of people who will be playing and crafting can't make simple lockpicks. I think maybe 5 lockpicks per iron ingot would be good.

Nah...then everyone will have a means to open the locked chests, making the finding of lockpicks meaningless.

It also opens up the opinion that crafting them should have benefits, where the better the material that makes them, the better the pick. meaning a type of enchant that makes locks easier, making the difficulty of opening tougher chests meaningless.

Initially, it seems like a good idea, but I think in the long run, it cheapens the gameplay of finding lockpicks & opening chests.

I dont see why not but at the same time I dont really see why either.

Lockpicks are so easy to obtain, during the beta weekends I looted containers in the tutorial until I had 5 lockpicks.

With those 5 lockpicks I started opening chests in the lvl 5-7 area (as a lvl 4) and thats more than enough to offset any bad luck in the start, after which you will receive more lockpicks from the chests you open.

When you get good at lockpicking (which took 15min practice for me) then you lose about 1 lockpick per every 5-15 chests and you gain about 1 lockpick per every 3-5 chests.

In this last beta weekend I have opened well over 150 chests and out of all of those I only failed on the timer ONCE (due to IRL distractions).

Last day of beta I even rerolled and did the tutorial as mentioned then ran ASAP to the lvl 5-7 area and only opened chests all the way to lvl 7.

It wasn't a problem for me as I tended not to break many and I had gotten over 50 just from coldharbor. I got many more after from scavenging every container I could find while levelling provisions. Also they can be bought and gold isn't that hard to come by. If you are really strapped for gold, just gather wood, ore and vendor is and you will have a few hundred to a few thousand.

Don't you all just love when you broke your last lockpick and the chest is still locked. Such things makes this game so much more fun to play. :)

No we should not be able to craft lockpicks.

I think.

Sounds like it could work. But would need to know how it would effect balance. Try could have t so the higher level lock picks are more difficult to break?

I'll just end up running cold harbour a few times to stock up on them. That and lots and lots of water 馃構

I love the idea, altho I've never run out of lockpicks, I'd like to be able to craft them and make sure I never run out.

So what are the pro's and con's?

It will be fun to have, but it also might lead to abuse in crafting level, forcing locks, etc There are ways to limited it, make it need a skill point, research an item to learn how to do it, have to buy "molds" for the lock pick cost something to make and sells for nothing and there many others ways to limited the crafting skill, but not take away the crafting skill away completely.

Do you think that the fans should request this or not?

I don't like the idea of crafting lockpicks, they're pretty common if you just spend a little time searching for them.
