Crafting, loot and the Diablo III dilemma

Post » Mon Mar 10, 2014 10:28 am

I wouldn't be worried so much about the frequency in which people craft these legendary items. I see it as a the same odds you were hoping that an epic loot item would drop, would be replaced with a single material required for crafting.

I just hope it you won't be able to craft legendary items from lore like Chrysamere or Goldbrand because that wouldn't make any sense.

Its important we keep facts clear for people who are not that familiar with ESO. As such, i am sorry to say you are misinformed.

1) ESO will follow traditional crafting progression. There are no plans to make crafting progression different than in all other Traditional MMOs. As such, the game progression will not revolve around crafting. Crafting in traditional MMOs is a side-mini-game , it not what you are going to being 80% of the time. From the information released, crafting progression will be almost identical to WoW. There is no "hardcoe Crafting" in ESO. I would not mind if there was, but there is not.

2) Although I respect RPers, from the information released we know that ESO is a PvP/PvE game. There are other games though that you can play that are more sandbox like EvE.

3) ESO has non-global Auction Houses although it goes by a different name. I am not sure how you can miss that. There have been several threads on this issue and there is extensive information on how it will work.

4) There is cash transition in ALL MMORPGs. It is very easy to players to buy gold using cash and tons of people do it in every MMO.

5) see 2.

Indeed, crafted gear is currently not the best. In many cases it's better to wear VR1 dropped loot than it is to use crafted VR10 stuff because the set bonuses on dropped gear put the crafted set bonuses to shame.

That thread has several PTS players in it, confirming the issue. Crafting does not in fact make the best gear; as it happens, it's not even currently worth crafting gear at all at end game.

In think you are mis-informed on how progression PvE works. Entire guilds can wipe for weeks for a single Boss and take months and months of Raiding to clear out a single Raid.

You are basically saying that a single person can nullify all Endgame one he/she maxes out crafting. lol no.

Did I miss something? Has ESO got a game wide real money auction house all of a sudden? and when did they axe the MMO part?

Seems like a rather poor comparison to me...

That means that Sage is wrong in saying that Crafters will craft better than the highest level gear. Sorry, but right now I will believe a direct quote from Sage than anything anyone else says.

So you are saying i will not be able to buy the best gear in the game using gold (or simply buy gold with cash and then buy the best gear in the game).

Ok someone better tell Sage that he does not know his own game.

I think you are over exaggerating a bit. I can't speak from experience with ESO, but while it can take a while to figure out a raid, once that's done it gets farmed and the value decreases. So sure, maybe the first time those items are aquired they have some value, but that value diminishes quickly. Where as crafted items have a much lower diminishing return, unless the market is flooded with those items. Not to mention, you are referring to a part of the game that can be considered a given. Crafting however is done by people who love that part of the game and those that think they can make a lot of money from it by selling. The dedication to crafting involves a different commitment then what you are talking about, and still outweighs any benefit you get from farming a raid.

In game experience from PTS players who have a year of experience playing ESO have shown that it is better to use dropped over crafted gear, and then upgrade that dropped gear.

The only thing that matters is what actually happens in the game, and unless something is changed, that means that dropped gear is flat out superior at end game.

A dropped weapon has precisely the same stats as the exact same weapon that is crafted, except that it can have superior set bonuses. The statement from ZOS that crafted gear has superior numbers is simply inaccurate.

No I'm saying your comparison is exceedingly flawed because you're equating a singleplayer/multiplayer ARPG with a game wide real money auction house to a MMORPG with a very limited guild/pvp based ingame money auction house.

Cheating is irrelevant, cheaters can hack/pay their way into getting anything regardless of any game mechanics.
