II recently bought the Skyrim Legendary Edition and it was great but it was missing something so I started with adding mods (on a new game ofcourse).

I've read a lot of guides, tips, etc.. for mods and I thought it was going to be fine but as you could've expected, it didn't go all that well..

I get a lot of CTD's, at first they were really random. I crashed when I was fighting, looking at the map, smithing, etc... and sometimes I can play for 2 hours without a crash and the other time I crash every 5 minutes.

Recently I noticed that 90% of my crashes happen when I melee attack, range attacks have never caused a crash. This doesn't mean that I can never melee attack again since most of the times I attack it doesn't crash.

Now, my pc should be able to run Skyrim without many problems (I've attached a dxdiag file) and I used BOSS to sort out my load order. D:\Users\Eigenaar_2\Saved Games\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim is where my game is installed. I have the latest version of Skyrim, the nexus mod manager and SKSE.

I'm almost sure my load order is OK (I've run BOSS multiple times and manually placed the unrecognised mods), got more memory blocks and I cleaned everything up that needed cleaning with TES5edit. I've also tried to run as administrator, verifying the game files on steam, windowed mode and turning graphics low but nothing helped. I don't know what the problem is anymore...

I am no expert on the pc and Skyrim, as I just recently started using the pc and mods. I was told that when I added mods, to add one at a time, and see if they work. Then add another to see if they work together. Some mods are not compatible with other mods. Could be one of your mods doing this. Try un-installing your super long list of mods and go to Nexus for Skyrim (NMM) and download your mods. Choose one or two and then run the game. Add another one and run the game. When it does a CTD (crashes to desktop) then you know which mod it is. Then un-install that one mod and continue with another mod.

Someone with more knowledge than me could give you better help. I have 36 mods and no problems at all.

First thing I have noticed is that you are not using the unofficial patches. They help reduce a lot of bugs, glitches and other things. They are best if it is added right at the start of a game.

Since it is happening with melee combat so the likely issue is with a mod that effects melee combat.

Well, as i saw from your mod's, are you sure all your mods are compatible each other ???

If something goes wrong, mostly it's after a long time of playing, and the more the mods the bigger the running scripts. (that depends of course, because not every mod is a scripted one.)

There are some mods you can safely uninstall from your game. Those mods are mostly replacer mods, that replaces things from the vanilla skyrim without adding or removing any objects.

(For example: texture packs, armor or weapon recolors, some sound mods and so on)

You don't want to remove mod's that alters heavily any outdoor world space, or an interior cell, and your character is in that space you are trying to revert back to vanilla.

And obviously you don;t want to remove scripted ones. !!!.

The reason for that is when you install scripted mods, the scripts will write themselves into your save data, and when you remove the mods, the scripts remain and continue to run.

The problems start to occur when the scripts trying to start an information that they need to work properly, but they can’t find anything because you have removed the objects from your game. !!!

I advise you to test each mod before you decide to keep it. !!! After you have backed up you save(s) and installed a new mod, play around for a few hours. This will drastically reduce the need for troubleshooting later for possible problems,

and will make your life easier (if a mod does cause problems), because you will know exactly what mod caused it, and you can get rid of it.

Also, i advise you to follow the instructions provided from the author, related to installing - updating - uninstalling a mod. Especially the uninstallation. !!!

And you could check the comments section for people having problems with the mod. This will help you to decide if you need to backup your saves before trying a mod. !!!
