Crash every time I enter IC

Hi everyone! I've installed Oblivion a while ago after some time without playing. I was able to play without problems for a while (about 30 hours in game), when suddenly I started getting CTDs every time I entered the IC.

I installed a lot of mods right from the start, and I almost didn't change them until now; however, I can't say for sure the changes I made before this problem appeared. Note that before this I was going and coming from the IC all the time, and I never witnessed any serious problems.

Then, I went away for some time, did some quest and so on, and upon returning to the IC, I entered Talos Plaza and, after walking a few metres... crash. I have the Oblivion Crash Prevention System installed, and it prevented a couple of crashes (I could hear two error sounds), and it disabled both the "esc" key and the activate key. A moment after that, a third crash happened, and it couldn't be prevented.

I reloaded a previous save, when I was far away from the IC, and played it differently, but in the end I came back to the IC and the crash was still there. I don't know where the problem could be... if you can, please help me!

I've seen Tbird0318's topic a little below mine, but even with similar symptoms, it seems my problem lies elsewhere...

Is something clearly wrong with it?
I determined most of it with BOSS, with 2/3 exceptions for mods it didn't know, but nothing mayor.

Have you tried rebuilding your bashed patch and waiting out for the cells to respawn? Just in case there's a bad spawn or bad data left over from your previous load order. Try going to the testing hall ("coc testinghall" in the console) and waiting there for however long your cell respawn time is set for (if you're not sure wait for 30 days to be on the safe side). Then try re-entering the IC.

You also seem to have some outdated mods, or files that should have been removed after an update (like Exnem's Runeskulls)

Finally, do you have any idea why the first hundred mods or so are all showing (Version 01) instead of their proper version numbers? Are the proper version numbers still in the description box for those files? Where did you acquire the files from if the version numbers are missing?

I rebuild the patch every time I make any kind of changes to the esp, even when I'm not sure its necessary; I still didn't try respawning. I will try, thanks!

I've downloaded most mods from TESNexus or this forum, and I looked for newer version when searching for big or important mods. I installed all mods with OBMM, creating OMODs when needed (and rearraging files within the archive before creating the OMOD, if needed); I didn't change the version for mods without OMOD conversion data, but I don't think it should touch the esp... or does it?

I didn't know I had outdated mods, or that I had to remove some of these files. Can you be more specific? Also, why should Exnem's Runeskulls be removed?

Sorry but I didn't play Oblivion for months; I just started with a FCOM installation, adding optional plugins to it as I liked, but I may have done something wrong there.

That said, Runeskulls are now integrated into MMM, so these two aren't needed:
4E ExnemRuneskulls.esp
++ FCOM_ExnemRuneskulls.esp [Version 01]

You already have the MMM loot plugin in your load order.

It's recommended not to use ++ FCOM_Cobl.esp [Version 01] right now, as it results in some duplication with MMM-Cobl and OOO-cobl. This is currently being rebuilt entirely.

66 Mart's Monster Mod - Diverse WaterLife.esp [Version 01] this was updated to fix a potentially serious bug, so make sure you have the new version from the MMM thread.

And I don't think TIE In is well integrated with FCOM yet.

66 Mart's Monster Mod - Diverse WaterLife.esp [Version 01] this was updated to fix a potentially serious bug, so make sure you have the new version from the MMM thread.

And I don't think TIE In is well integrated with FCOM yet.


I've followed some of your advice and looked thoroughly through BOSS log file, and now it works!
I disabled ExnemRuneskulls.esp, FCOM_ExnemRuneskulls.esp, TIE In - ExnemRuneskulls.esp
I also disabled TIE In - RealSwords.esp, TIE In - DiverseGuardUnity.esp, TIE In - BobsGuardUnity.esp since I had TIE In - FCOM Convergence.esp active, according to BOSS they shouldn't be used together since the FCOM patch includes everything needed for a full FCOM installation
I disabled DLCFrostcrag - Unofficial Patch.esp, since I'm using Frostcrag Reborn and there could be incompatibilities
Finally, I disabled Salmo the Baker, Cobl.esp and TIE In - Salmo, Cobl.esp, since BOSS said Salmo could cause random CTDs... maybe he was the culprit?

I still don't know about the version numbers. Listing mods through the Mods tab gives the same result. I think I'm using the latest versions of all mods that could give compatibility problems, I checked every readme files for compatibility when installing... including mods not compatible with old versions of other mods. I'm sure I have the Diverse WaterLife patch, anyway :)

Mh, it says version 01. I installed it using the OMOD installer for MMM and UFCOM... I followed the instructions in that thread. Maybe there are problems in some of the packages, or in the omod conversion data?

Those version tags. They don't seem legit to me, they're on files that should not have them like the UOMP files etc. This looks like the content came from a mod pack. Especially telling since the All Natural files don't come with "Version 01" in their descriptions.

All Natural may be correct since I reinstalled it earlier today thinking it may be involved in the IC crash; maybe something added those version tags to everything AFTER installation, and reinstalling the All Natural omod replaced the "corrupt" files with correct ones.

I downloaded it from the MMM/FCOM omod installer thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/995334-mmm-and-fcom-omod-installers/

Anyway, since the problem doesn't concern only MMM, I think it probably has to do with an error in Wrye Bash or OBMM rather than a specific mod... I had a crash while building a bashed patch, maybe that caused the problem? I rebuilt it afterwards of course; still, I thought Wrye Bash simply read from the plugins while building, without changing them, and it only wrote data to the Bashed patch, 0.esp. Is it possible?

Anyway, I'll slowly reinstall the mods with wrong version numbers. I'll let you know if the correct one is restored

By reinstalling the mods, the correct version number is restored; I've reinstalled all mods starting with "A" (or numbers) now, and they show with the correct version number. For example, Armamentarium shows as 1.35, and Artifacts as 1.1. So the problem doesn't lie in the mods themselves, but in some process that went wrong

Let me reinstall ALL mods first... or at least all mods that had wrong version numbers... then I'll post the new load order! (I removed a few mods I didn't use in the meantime, and added a little more)

There's an option for this now in the bashed patch, if you want to clear a spot.

Best to remove this for now....duplication issues with OOO-Cobl and MMM-Cobl.

There's a problem here. These two are mismatched with the OOO.esm, which is version 1.34. Don't try to use OOO-Lite if that is what you are attempting, otherwise, replace these two files. Maybe reinstall the OOO 1.34b5 patch

++ Mart's Monster Mod - Slof Horses Complete.esp [Version 3.7b3p3]

Corepc also released a file that integrates Horse Armor with Slof's horses. You can find it in the MMM thread.

Thanks! I did eveything you suggested - and also added the playable undead armor and flying runeskulls from the optional MMM addons.

I reinstalled the OOO 1.34 patch, to be sure; however, it doesn't include a new OOO-No_Guild_Ownership.esp... will it be a problem?

I think the 1.33 version should be fine. I don't recall that file getting updated or needing an update. It's not very popular, so it's a bit hard to recall.

Ok thanks, with all these mods I got confused o_O I thought that in the "main" MMM download the runeskulls were present only as loot, and not as flying skulls...

IN 3.7b3 The Flying Skull Variety are Normal, you use the Diverse Runeskulls Loot Plugin OOO to place them has loot etc..To clarfiy that once again
