Just bought Fallout 3: Game Of The Year Edition and when I try to start a New Game the game goes black and an error window pops-up. Needless to say I have to ctrl-alt-delete the game away even with the End Program pop-up up. The only thing I've tried to do to fix this is run the game as administrator needless to say this did not work.

I had this same problem when I bought The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, wish I could remember how I resolved that. Anyways here's my info.

P.S: I'm kind of saddened to see the amount of topics regarding this issue and the general lack of assistance that's provided. If anyone has had this problem before and has been able to fix it please give me some advice on how to resolve it.

Different games, Oblivion is 2 years older then Fallout 3. Fallout 3 requires shader model 2.0b to run. The Intel video chipsets only have shader model 2.0, they "fake" the rest.

I love the part where you tell me they're different games. JK JK ugh, this svcks. oh well I've got the game until I can improve my actual PC, thanks anyways.

I personally think that Oblivion was a BIG FAILURE. Morrowind was way better sadly. (LUCKILY I STILL HAVE IT) Now they have mods for it that make it look like oblivion.
