Crash on Settlement Building : Fallout 4

I have a very strange issue that makes the game essentially unplayable for me, someone who loves building settlements.

Whenever I try to go into the settlement menu, whether by pressing Q, in on the mousewheel, or activating the workbench itself, my game insta-crashes. It happens regardless of which settlement it is, and across all characters. It doesn't seem to be related to my mods, as even deactivating all of my esps and esms got me a crash.

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Best action I'd recommend would be to backup your Fallout 4 .ini files located in these folders:

\My Games\Fallou4\

\Steam\Steamapps\common\Fallout4\Fallout4\

Then, go into Steam and:

- Rright-click on Fallout 4

- Select Properties from the drop-down list

- Click on Local Files tab

- Click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache...

After Steam gets done verifying files there may be one or more that need to be re-obtained. If so, then Steam will automatically re-obtain the files. After it gets done copy your .ini files back to their original locations, run the game and see if the error still occurs.

It is also possible that your mods need to be updated to newer versions to account for the newest version of Fallout 4 which is 1.3.47 (non-Beta). If you are using the Beta version 1.4.131 then you'll need to see if any of the mods have been updated to support the Beta patch.
