My favourite game mode in Crysis 2 is Crash Site (almost up to 200 games played now). I have had some epic comebacks (and epic fails!) in this playlist in solo and in Teams, and I wanted to share some feedback on this mode to make it better.
1. Wall Street
The initial spawns in this map on CS need some work. Most people spawn in the subways at the start - however there is one subway (near the truck I think), where one member of each team spawns in one subway, facing each other, at a distance of about 6 feet... Not a great first impression of a team spawn system. This happens on every CS game. Please can these initial spawns be looked at to keep teams apart initially?
2. Lighthouse
This map is unbalanced for CS at the moment. This is because of the 4 Crash sites that take place at the extreme ends of the map (2 at Lighthouse, 2 at the Hospital). Basically, if the Crash site drops at one of those locations then its an easy 80 points for the team that spawned there. I have had several shutouts where the crash site falls at the hospital by the crates, we get 80 points then the next one is by the hospital MG turret! Game over in about 2 minutes, the lighthouse spawn team didn't stand a chance. The same result if the first CS is at one end, then middle, then back to the end it first dropped at. Great if you get lucky with the spawns, frustrating if you are on the other side.
The problem is twofold - the nature of the map layout, and gameplay behaviors.
Basically at least one person from each team will want to snipe on this map. This is fine, it is a great snipers map, but this means that the sniper person anchors that team's spawns. As the map is so long, if a CS comes down by hospital or lighthouse then it takes a while to get all the way over there - and when you die you respawn all the way back where you started. Meanwhile the other team spawns about 50 feet away from the CS and can reinforce very quickly. This leads to those CS locations getting at least 60 to 80 points every time.
My solution is to remove the 4 CS locations at the ends of the map and only have 3- 4 CS locations in the middle (from AA gun to ruins). This means that both teams have an equal chance of getting to a CS, regardless of spawn (with player skill then determining who holds it). This rewards long and close range playstyles, as Run and gunners can get into the game more and snipers can still snipe from the ends of the map. At the moment games on Lighthouse are decided by luck, not player skill or teamwork.
Thats all I have for now, anyone else have any observations about Crash Site they would like to share?
