Crash Site on Lighthouse is FUBAR

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 3:22 am

I've now lost count of how many times I've played where my team is winning quite handidly on Lighthouse during Crash Site, only to have the pod "mysteriously" start landing right where the enemy team is spawning (my team on the waaaaay other end of the map) - and continues to do so for the remainder of the match.

I'm all about lending a hand to the losing team, but in the next patch this should be addressed so that the pod lands in the middle of the island a lot more often. I just don't think the pod land location code jives well with the spawn locations for this map. Or maybe this map just wasn't built very well for Crash Site.

It's always conveinent that you spawn on the complete opposite side of the map of your objective...NOT >.> It's annoys the hell out of me and I totally agree. I have to waste my time and energy huffin and puffin to the objective just to get killed by some random ass hiding in a corner, just to do it all over again.

Even if they guaranteed the first crash site landed in the centre of the map, I don't think Lighthouse is a suitable map for Crash Site due to the length of it.
As you have stated, it is almost a complete waste of time trying to run from a spawn on one end of the map to the crash site on the other end that the enemy have under lockdown.

Ah, indeed you are. Good points you have in that thread, I hope they just make Lighthouse a static pod in the middle. I think that would make an interesting way to spice up Crash Site. Just one continuos pod... do you run straight for it or sneak around to flank distance shooting enemies? It would break up the monotony of the game type.

I just think the whole map is FUBAR period. Always getting sniped through trees by people who SHOULD NOT be able to see me,just to spawn at the far end of the map like you said. But yeah I hate lighthouse.

I know what you mean. I've screamed at the game for making me marathon to the other end of the map... only to be killed again.

Well I don't advocate having just one pod - if you take out the four extreme ones then that still leaves 6 crash locations, all within an area that takes about 15 seconds to sprint across. It would be great for balanced gameplay as run and gunners would have some cover to get close (ruins, AA gun, rocks), while snipers would get great views of a couple of sites, but not all of them from one sniping spot. I think it could work...

I agree. At the very least the extreme sites need to be deleted. The map is gorgeous and really fun for TDM, but I think it's obvious it was created as a CTR map. Which is too bad, because since CTR doesn't have a solo playlist, I hardly ever play it and have never played it on Lighthouse.
