Crash as soon as it starts

When I click "Play Game" on Brink the window or picture that says "Brink" on it aka the splash screen comes up then closes right after. No errors or anything. Updated gfx drivers, ran as admin, disabled AV, etc.

Sometimes games, especially Steam games don't start up but their Windows process remain active.

You can check by:
1. Start the Task Manager (If your on Windows Vista/7 simply type :"Task Manager" into the Start Menu Text box or just press CTRL+ALT+DEL and select Task Manager from the list)
2. Go under the "Processes" tab
3. Keep the Task Manager open and then start the game
4. When the game closes after the brink picture, check the Task Manager and see if there is still a process called Brink.exe running there.

If there still is a process there then the solution can be very simple sometimes, even trivial. Try to restart your computer and try again.

I know how stupid this might seem to you, but this is the only thing that I can recommend at this points since you don't really offer enough information to present more valid theories.

For example,
Describe your system including to which version of Windows are you using.

Some anti-virus software asks you to allow a program to access your computer when you execute that program for the first time. Perhaps this was in your case and you accidentally denied the program the access.

If you're on a laptop the normal driver update will likely not work.

Look for the modded 11.5 Hotfix for mobility cards.... not the ATI 11.5a, the modded version of 11.5a.. google search it.

I had the same problem for 5 days where I could not get past the Splash logo, found this fix last night and everything works great.

Thank you for the quick response sorry I didn't post my information I will now.

Ran this on my laptop with kaspersky and it worked without allowing or denying anything.

Just basic information right there.

Things I have tried so far:
  • disabled triple buffering

  • verify installation files by deleting steamapi.dll
  • ran as admin
  • disabled AV
  • Ran in different compatibilities
  • switched from spanish to english version and d/led that

I'm wondering if you rebooted during your various attempts to get it working? Are there any errors showing up in the Windows event log after each crash? Was your AV completely disabled, as in no processes still running? Are you using the same AV as the other machine that it worked on?

Try older/different versions of video card drivers.
