Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition seems to crash almost every time I go into V.A.T.S. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and downloaded the game from Steam. I also have an ancient GeForce 8800 GTS.

A topic on Steam forums did present some solutions but the one that appeared to fix the issue was downloading a file from a torrent, which is not something I would be interested in doing. Especially when it's a software component and not just a configuration file or something.

Anyone have any working official workarounds?
