Crash troubles, looking for help.

Post » Thu Feb 20, 2014 11:25 am

Just got a new PC and graphics card, and for some reason I've been getting a lot of crashes that I cant seem to find a cause for. the papyrus log hasn tbeen much help, telling me only the most basic of things that are always there.

I've run BOSS, used TeS5 to clean any mod, all mods are up to date.. but that's not to say there might be something there screwing me up. I'm starting to wonder if it's mod related or maybe even hardware. a lot fo the crashes happen in the world, on the roads and such, like the path just outside of Whiterun, or just after the bridge north of Riverwood. sometimes it will happen just after getting into the game, like 10 seconds after I'm on my char, before moving or anything. (that one happens in nearly any location)

could it be a conflict with settings on my graphics card? or driver maybe? (they should be up to date)

i'd post a mod load order but it wont let me paste or link to it

You have BOSS right ???? (Or download it from here: http://boss-developers.github.io/%29

After that install BOSS where ever you want. (i have it in C:\ (main directory))

After that run BOSS GUI (right click -> Run as administrator)

You shouldn't have problems posting something on this forum. !!!!!

You could just start a new character without mod's (mod's disabled), and see if you get crashes again. !!!!

Or you should try another game, to see if you get the same problems !!!!!

-------------------

btw, what are your PC specifications ???? (post your Dxdiag)

-------------------

Or you should try the windows event viewer log file, to see what error to you get. (under Windows Logs -> Application)

-------------------

Have you any utilities running on the background causing those troubles ???? (Even you should consider to deactivate your Antivirus for now. !!!!)

-------------------

You could try a clean boot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9VJI_9Wf3Y

-------------------

...and you should consider to re-install tour GPU drivers as well. (clean installtion procedure. !!!)

-------------------

If you get again crashes in Skyrim and especially in other games too, it could be maybe hardware related. (But that's the last thing you should consider)

Ofcourse I've used BOSS, that's pretty basic, I've tried with multiple characters, with and without mods and I still get crashes in the same spots.

system specs are:

Windows 8.1 64 bit

i3 mailto:-4130@3.4 Ghz

8g ram

XFX r7 260x 2g graphics card

all drivers are up to date (should be, just installed them a week ago), it runs the game at a near solid 60 fps with all settings maxed. had no problems in other games.

nothing in the event viewer that would pertain to the game.

and it wont let me use the spoiler tag option, tried several times and it doesn't show up.

Spoiler tags are easy. They look like this. dxdiag <====== Replace the < > with [ ]

Did these crashes just start all of a sudden?

Hmm you should simply save the dxdiag report, then select all and copy/paste into the forums. Open the report in notepad. What browser are you using?

Are you using NMM?

Ok, he's a pic of my mod list, sorry, had to be split in 2 tho

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g221/Jeffreylane/modlist_zpsaf91a76f.jpg

and a report from the skyrim performance monitor

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g221/Jeffreylane/Screenshot_3_zps69aa7369.jpeg

maybe that can help a little.

Performance monitor isn't going to tell you anything really in this case. The mod list can help. However, there's a number of reasons why Skyrim can crash.

A dxdiag would be of more help here.

I'm not sure why you're having issues with copy and paste in your browser. You should be able to. Can you copy and paste within this textbox? What browser are you using?
