Crash with CM Partners mod

Basically my modded game (about 50 mods pre-Bash-Merging, all sorted by BOSS) is running very stable. I can usually play 2:30 hours and longer without crashing. When I do eventually crash after extended play, it is 9 out of 10 times the moment I try to access the inventory of one of my CM Partners (I usually have 1 or 2 with me). This is when I have already accessed him for like the 50th time or more. :) I activate him/her, choose "Share", cut his talk off with a mouse click and the game will be stuck frozen. There is no warning about when this crash is going to happen. By experience I know chances increase the more often I shared with him during the session. So later into the session I make it a point to do the activating and clicking rather slowly but this not helping much if anything at all.

It is really only mildly annoying because I save often, so usually not a big deal. I suspect OB is just getting tired to process the script(s) for like the 100th time, I'm not losing any sleep over it. I know modded OB is bound to crash at some point. :shrug:

Still I would like to know if other players have experienced this particular crash involving the CM Partners mod? Have you tried to track this down with any success?

do any of your partner NPCs conjure bound armor or weapons? thats one thing i found that will make the game completely freak when you try to access their inventories. i find i have to deliberately check my NPCs for any out of place armor or weapons before getting into their inventory or my game will freeze outright

Hmmm... Thanks for that hint, but no, practically they never do that. This was never an issue with my type of crashes. They do summon a Scamp or something during battle sometimes, but when accessing their inventory, I would do that in "quiet" moments only when they are in their normal outfits. So no, I don't think this is applicable to my situation.

if you're using spell overhaul mods like LAME the bound equipment can linger past combat since many overhauls change how summoned equipment is handled. in my game(using LAME) bound armor and weapons will not automatically deactivate after combat like in vanilla oblivion. instead it will stay active until the duration of the spell runs out. your NPC could be conjuring something like bound boots that you aren't seeing under their robe(or something similar if they have one)

i have had frequent freezes for that exact reason because i spaced out and forgot to wait for their bound equipment to burn out.

if you're not using a magic overhaul it is possible that you might have a mod thats adding token items to the NPCs inventory to trigger various special effects. depending on the mod that could probably provoke a similar reaction

Hey Luna, thanks, your comments are well taken and I will pay utmost attention in the future with regard to bound/conjured items on partners. For once I have not played with LAME up until now. But I understand you cite this as an example. Having said that I still *think* that this was never an issue in my game, but it is "think" rather than "know for fact". So I'll look out for that in the future.

Here I would say then why would the freeze materialize only like after hours of gaming?? :wacko: But thanks for mentioning it. :)
