My CS crashes when I try to play voice clips.

My CS crashes every time I try to play a voice clip within the dialogue. This is a recent problem, I could do it just fine, but now it crashes whenever I try to open the window where it shows you the file path of that particular line of dialogue. Why is this so?

I have the same problem with Fallout 3's G.E.C.K.

Plug a microphone into your mic jack. If you don't have one, just plug in a headphone into the mic jack.

There is some sound/microphone settings to tweak in the Windows Control panel to avoid this as well. I know, because I had this problem and fixed it that way. I cannot remember what I did, but may be worth looking for. But WillieSea's solution is reported to consistently fix it too.

Yeah, I never had this problem because I have the microphone 'hard' turned on in my sound driver control panel. But that is above most peoples computer skills so its easier to just plug something into the mic which forces the computer to turn it on as well.
