Crashing at Cryengine Logo

Post » Mon Jun 27, 2011 2:12 pm

Ok, so, I had a previous version of Crysis 2 on my computer. It ran perfectly but I never patched it to 1.8. I deleted it and bought Crysis 2 from Direct2drive yesterday. It installed fine and all things were going according to plan, it patched with no problem. However, when I start the game all that happens now is the Eye logo pops up and then the screen blacks out and crashes to the desktop with the message Crysis 2 (TM) has stopped working.

I've updated my drivers, checked everything to make sure my system can run it (heck I played it before just fine), and I've uninstalled and reinstalled it. Same thing every time. I've tried running as administrator, in compat mode, turned off all antivirus, made firewall exception, turned firewalls off, and every other tip I can find. Is it just the patch and it may be fixed with the next one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I would enjoy being able to play this game that I just spent money on, lol.

Try and delete the Crysis2 folder in your Saved Games folder i.e username/Saved Games

Does it work without patching?

It automatically patched last time I tried reinstalling so I'll try reinstalling offline in a few minutes.

*Correction: It autopatched when I launched the game so I'll try reinstalling (can't activate offline) and then run the game offline.

1. Tell us your PC specs!
2. Wait and see what will happen once you downloaded patch 1.9 (tomorrow)
3. Have you made any changes to your PC, since the last time you played it?
4. Delete everything that exist about Crysis 2 on your PC, then try installing Crysis 2!

Well ur specs aren't the problem.

9800M GS = Desktop 9600GT = GT 240 GDDR5.

I have GT 240 and it works fine.

I didn't think it was my specs. I can only think of a couple possibilities..
1. The patch has me messed up somehow (checking that out in a minute)
2. Comrade's down loader messed up the zip file that I extract from to get the files to install.
3. I have overlooked something critical and this is 100% my fault, lol.

Thank you all for your help, the problem was the patch. Without it, the game launches and runs perfectly. Hopefully tomorrow's patch will resolve the issue so I can have a fully patched game :)
