Crashing directly after BethesdaObsidian logo?

So, every time I start up my game, it loads normally until the Bethesda logo, and SOMETIMES, the Obsidian logo. I hear some of the music start to play, but then it stops.

Something's telling me it's a sound problem, but I'm not 100% sure. This is the steam copy of the game, with Honest Hearts and Dead Money DLCs. I've tried full uninstall/reinstall, .ini fixes, Run as Administrator fixes, XP compatibility mode fixes, trying FOMM, deleting every single save and trace of the game, registry cleanups, and driver updates.

I have NO idea what's going on. I have no mods. The game used to work flawlessly, but I haven't played it since August, so I have no idea if an update has derped the game or if I just svck at life.

Here's the minimum:

What are the Fallout 3 (PC) system requirements?

Minimum System Requirements:

* Windows XP/Vista
* 1GB System RAM (XP)/ 2GB System RAM (Vista)
* 2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
* Direct X 9.0c compliant video card with 256MB RAM
(NVIDIA 6800 "GS" or better/ ATI X850 or better)
{Added my note here, the X800 Pro & up also, and
avoid the Geforce 6800 SE, and 6800 XT}
* 4.6 GBs of free hard drive space

Recommended System Requirements:

Take a look in the middle, where is says "Video Card" and demands 256 MBs on VRAM. Now look at what your DxDiag says is the best you have:

It could NEVER have run this game CLOSE to the way it was designed to run. It might have "walked" with constand pauses, hiccoughs, and assorted failures, but I don't call THAT awful behavior "Running".

Yes, the LCD on my laptop broke in August, so I had to use this REALLLY crappy monitor (REALLY bad) that I plugged into the laptop while I was waiting for the screen to come in. It's all fixed now, but anything I can do about fixing that driver problem thing?

Trust me, it ran this and Fallout 3 (but now I'm having issues with FO3 too, but that's another topic) just fine. Ran it on minimum specs, 800x600 and I never had any issues. Worked like a charm. Also able to run Borderlands and other things just fine.
