Hey does anyone know what exactly is happening here....

When I select play from the launcher, black screen appears and the mouse pointer is locked into the windows loading circle with a small icon at the bottom right of the screen that looks like a "pause" button.

When I run the game in windowed borderless the issue goes away and the game launches fine, but I take a massive performance hit.
