I've installed the program just fine (it's the standard edition), and I've even installed the 1.7 update. I've also installed the latest version of Windows Live. It'll crash every time I try to start a new game. I get the dreaded box that says that the program has stopped working. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Here's the specs:

This would be why, it is too weak to play the game. It doesnt support the shader models needed to run the game properly.

lololol damn if I would have known this I would have never bought an asus as well. Anyways, try to run it as an administrator+xp mode. That did the trick for me :/ Also if you have an onboard videocard and a normal one try to force the normal one. That was also one of my issues. It used my onboard automaticaly? I have no idea why but that also gave me a ctd. Right now it works, however it is realy unstable it usually crashes after playing for a while. So don't expect it to run perfectly. I recently bought a new asus laptop and had the same issues, and still have. I have no idea why or how but it seems to work...

The type of laptop/desktop really doesnt matter too much. What matters is the hardware on the inside. Some Asus PCs are very good. But the ones with an Intel video chipset are not. This is a desktop, meaning he could upgrade his GPU (the OP only has a integrated chipset in there). While some people report success with running the game as admin, you wont if you have inadequate hardware.

Admin mode wont do squat for you with that intel chip.

For a videocard, We need to know a budget range and your power supply wattage.

Wattage, I couldn't tell you. As for budget, let's just say that I would like to go with the least expensive option. FO3 is the only high power game that I own, so my gaming demands would be limited to that alone.

You can open the case to find out...the PSU has a spec sticker on it. But it looks as though it has a basic 300W generic PSU. Decent option without having to upgrade the PSU...

The Radeon 4670 is a very low power consumption card and has run on even lower wattage generic units, so don't worry about the 400W min requirement....video card power supply requirements are always overstated.
